Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.

during those parts of a day when it really was sinking in, it was dark and torturous. BUT I had sustained a serious injury, limiting physical mobility for 3 months. I am sure it would have been better with normal activities.
you are going through the early time of great upheaval and changes. there is no way around time needed, with this loss.
be patient with yourself. Also DO whatever you feel you are ready to try to function at. but do not believe that ANYthing is a failure, just because your mind says you "should" be doing better, or more.
Hugs,
Barb.
I think that for some, it takes longer to regain their strength and hope for the future. I think right now- it is important for all of us to be patient with ourselves. This is the worst thing that has ever happened to some of us. It altered the way we live and changed what our future holds. Just hold on to the thought that you will make it through these days- and take as good care of yourself as possible, even if your impulse for self care is gone.
I didn't believe I would ever be "okay" again, but I am. I believe you'll get there too. It may just take a little time.
May you find peace.
Peace, Tim
I agree with all of the above, to take care of that new person as best as you can, and understand that it is NOT a race to show everybody how good you're doing...because you are not doing good at all...you are trapped within the most severe and painful trauma a human being can experience...and you owe the world no facades.
But as time passes, you get to know that new person better, and you understand that you keep the Love of your Departed with you always, and the new person you are will grow and become stronger.
I put "lose" in quotations above for a reason.
I urge you to read anything by Patrick Mathews.
