Missmyanne I know the feeling, my husband used to say "yes dear, what ever you like" and I miss those words every single day. My husband and I loved to play records together, and dance like we were the only people in the world. We loved music as well. With the first year of his death approaching October 18, I find myself not being able to listen to music yet. Maybe one day I will be able to turn that record player on and listen to music again. I miss him so much. Thanks for making me think about that saying he used to say to me.

I know your Anne is listening with you and saying that to you as well... "Whatever you want honey."

I'm just sitting here now listening to some of the stuff we listened to. I wish I did this months ago. It is bittersweet. I have tears in my eyes but a smile on my face. Please try it.

Hi Missmyanne, ok, my husband never said whatever you want honey. He did say sometimes, I'm not going to fight you on it! LOL. Bless his heart. I am glad to hear you have gotten those speakers back out of storage and have them all wired up. That is great! Music has been really healing for me these last two years, even though the tears come. You are definitely moving forward. Good for you.

i used to say'yes dear youre absolutly right', so often that we abbreviated it as ydyar. on reflection,she was the brains of the outfit as well

still cant listen to music

I was pretty much the man of the house. I call the shots. There's only one boss in the house, until she made that cute little pout look. And if ever I wanted to be rough and tough and Stand my ground all it took was one little tear and I was total Putty. She was so cute when she try to get mad, she wasn't very good at it. She would probably get more mad because she couldn't get mad at me. Sometimes I would say "yes dear, OK dear , Whatever you want dear" that's when I knew I had to run. That girl just made everything fun!

I was the shot caller in my home as well Dave. Know how I knew that? She told me I was. LOL

Oh I do so love reading this string. I never wanted to be the bossy, I call the shots kind of woman as I thought it seemed disrespectful to my husband as a man. Kind of sounds archaic doesn't it? But... I absolutely called the shots. If I said jump, Joe would say how high! (And trust me not in a wimpy, might need to grow a pair kind of way.) He jumped how high cause he loved to make me happy and he KNEW I would jump an inch higher if he ever would have asked. I do so miss that man!

That's cute. I have boxy speakers of my own I still haven't wired up. They're being used as tables! Bought last summer for $20 a pair @ yardsale. A good deal. I think they're called Technics.

my husband also loved music he loved the oldies from the 70 and 80. before we had kids he was a dj and he played music out of a light blue 57 chevy it was really neat it was the shell of the car and it had working headlights. he would dj at a club called decades and take requests and the place was always packed he was a great dj and he would interact with the people. he made it so fun he loved playing music and as a kid 12 yrs old he lived in an apartment just him and his mom and he created his own radio station and the people in the appartment building and houses around the block could tune in. music has always been a part of my life and our family. daily there is music playing. music has been theraputic for my healing during my cancer and while he had cancer and even after his death. when i am down i will put on my husbands favorite singer jimmy buffett and i can hear him singing and dancing. when he was first diagnosed with cancer a friend told us about a friend of hers that worked for a dr and they could not go to buffett concert and had tickets give away. we had a blast at that concert. that is why i decided my nick name should be parrothead cause he was a true parrothead all the way.

Nice memories you all have, although, I realize how "bittersweet" memories can be. Patrick and I loved music too (70's & 80's.) It is hard for me to listen to some of our favorites, I can't enjoy them in the same way. Seems every song reminds me of him and I just end up crying.
