Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
I am writing this knowing that some people may make the choice of taking offence.
My hope is in God's Word. It says if I repent of my sin and accept The Lord Jesus Christ as my Saviour, then I will have everlasting life.
That means our bodies will die but our spirit lives forever.
I know I will see my husband again. (He accepted his gift of salvation in 2007)
Our blessed hope has brought us through all these trials and I know. God will never leave us not n'or forsake us. (Hebrews13:5)
Peace and hope to you,
Love Sandra.
Hope that I can survive this grief and feeling of loss.
Love for my family and dear friends.
I just try my best to get through each day, each hour, each minute.
We have to believe that things will get better.
Your pain is very raw right now. Please take care of yourself, and know we are here to support you.
Hugs,
Janie
Life as knew it has stopped; my hope is, someday a joy filled life will find me again. I will try not to hide.
Footprints in the Sand
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.
This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.
So I said to the Lord,
"You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during
the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one
set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most,
you have not been there for me?"
The Lord replied,
"The times when you have
seen only one set of footprints,
is when I carried you."

When I Must Leave You
When I must leave you
For a little while,
Please do not grieve
And shed wild tears
And hug your sorrow to you
Through the years,
But start out bravely
With a smile.
And for my sake
And in my name,
Live on and do
All the things the same.
Feed not your loneliness
On empty days,
But fill each waking hour
In useful ways.
Reach out your hand in comfort
And in cheer,
And I, in turn, will comfort you
And hold you near.
And never, never
Be afraid to die,
For I am waiting for you
In the sky.

Thinking of you all, Driftersoul
Last week I started going to one of my granddaughter's classrooms and helping her friends with reading. I love it! I don't have the strength yet to do major service to others but that I can do. I focus on the needs of the day--which are many--and try to accomplish what I can without putting too much stress on myself.
My hope ultimately is to find peace in helping those who need it, and never lose sight of my ultimate goal, which is life in heaven.
The next morning he died in my arms of a heart attack. All of our dreams and plans died with him.
For a time, the only thing I could say was that I was "hoping for hope." That somehow, I would move forward with my life, that the pain would not always be so great, that I would live my life in a way that would honor my husband and all that he meant to me. I believe that I have done that.
I know it would not have honored Cliff, our life together, and all that he stood for if I Iet his death destroy my life. That is not the legacy I wanted for him, that is not what he wanted for me, and if it had been the other way round it would not have been what I would have wanted for him either.
I have rebuilt my life. I have found love and happiness again. My life is very different from what it was 7 years ago. But it is good. Cliff is still a part of me and always will be, but I gain strength and comfort from my memories now instead of raw pain.
I hope that this helps you understand that it will get easier. Don't give up. And on those days where you feel like giving up, just tell yourself "not today." I did that. And I am so glad that I did not give up - I would have missed so very much. Happiness is as inevitable as sorrow. We forget that when we lose our other half. Don't give up hope.
Love and Hugs,
Martha
I sincerely wish you peace in the coming weeks . . .
