Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
Sharing what brings you comfort and strength is sweet. Some will embrace your scripture and others won't.
Sending warm thoughts your way.
Sitting by a lake or river (an ocean is even better), brings me peace.
I will say that I have been inspired a lot by the actions of people suffering from cancer. Not only my wife, but my mother also - they both fought as hard as they could to stay alive for their family.
In my mom's case she had some kind of systemic cancer ( later we found out the doc figured she had three months at most ). My brother had just finished his junior year in high school when we found out she had cancer. She never complained ( and chemo was barbaric when she went through it in 1981 ). She hung in there until my brother graduated from high school and died a month later.
In my wife's case she underwent 180 chemo treatments to try to stay alive. When she came down with the cancer we had no grandkids and she was worried that she, like her mother, would not live to see her grandchildren. Well she survived 10 years and she saw all four brought into this world and got a chance to spend a lot of time with each of them.
So I am inspired to continue on and live the best that I can, because I know that those who did not have the gift of health would put up with horrors in order to be alive for their families :)
When I think of a quote, I'll post it :)

and music that can transport me.
all these that creator put here to remind us that we are part of a whole.

Psalm 24:8
Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.
When you are going to tackle a problem, I like to say that you try your best, but if it's turning into a big problem then you pull out the big dogs. It's comforting to think that you have the biggest "dog" on your side and s/he is mighty in battle.
All of us have battles that we must fight. Some battles are more serious than others. You might be fighting to stay healthy, to eliminate some bad habit, or to survive a health crisis.
All of us here are battling how we adapt to the loss of our loved ones, and the aftermath ( Aftermath - the period of time after a bad and usually destructive event. ) of that event.
So, yeah, I like this quote, it helps me keep going :)

I lift up my eyes to the hills from whence comes my help. My help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth.
