I am off tomorrow evening to play bridge and eat and probably eat some more and maybe even drink a little with eight other girlfriends. The are all SERIOUS duplicate Bridge players......me not so much. I had thought I would stay at home, the kids had hoped I would baby-sit but I know it will be good for me to be with the girls. Am throwing in PJ's too.......thinking there will be several of us that do not want to face a drive in the cold and dark with possibly drunk drivers going home from their parties. I wish with all my heart that I could be spending the evening with Jim.......but these gals are all good friends and it will be a fun evening.....unless I start to cry. I hope everyone has a peace filled evening and that 2011 will bring all of us to a better place in our lives.

Dec 31 st is my grandson's birthday, we usually celebrate that and have a toast at midinght. The family will gather at my house and we will play WII and maybe sing some karaoke. The beginning of a new year but still a year filled with the loss I feel. I am hoping for this new year to bring some light into the darkness and some promise for a brighter tomorrow for all of us.

Tim and I always just did what we did any other night....watch a little TV, have a glass of wine and go to bed about 10:30....always figuring the new year would be there when we got up the next day.

I will probably have a glass of wine by myself, and read or find some mindless thing to do.

My son invited me over but I don't like to be out on New Years Eve....too many drunks on the road.

We always stayed home, I would be up, because everyone is blowing up fireworks in the neighborhood. My husband would sleep thru anything. I usually watch TV, Times Square, and watch the ball drop. My daughter is coming over with the boys, so I'm sure I'll be busy.

I have never been a new year's eve fan. For many years, staying at home was the usual thing. Nothing will change this year.
Years ago when my husband and I were square dancers, we used to find a dance to go to. Since no drinking was allowed, it was a very enjoyable time. But, that was many years ago.
I will just watch the rose parade in the morning. Judith

i will work til 6 pm ,go home,mandy my stepdaughter and her kids will come over stay for two hours nad go home then i will watch some and when i can not stay awake any longer go to sleep,knowing that the worst year i have every had is over and hoping the new year is better.scott

We never celebrated New Year's Eve or NYD except watch football. Watching football games by yourself just isn't the same. Hoping some of my family will come and watch it with me. FSU vs. South Carolina. Go Seminoles! And Welcome, 2011. I can't believe I have lived one whole year without Joe. Tears still flow frequently. Love of my life.

Looking ahead, however, I plan to get VERY busy getting the things done around the house that have been neglected due to cancer. Another project will be to disbtribute all the family photos to the appropriate persons. I will keep only the ones I treasure. The others are like, "Who in the heck is THAT?" I have boxes and boxes not only from Joe but from his mother as well. But I expect to make great progress in my accomplishments in 2011.

Happy new year to everyone here and may the new year bring you more joy, more fun, more love, more peace, more serenity than 2010 did. Hugs to you all.

I had one peaceful moment today, most likely God filling me with His Grace, which was a surprise to me, but other than that I will be still having a self-pity party and be determined to avoid the countdown and looking for TV channels that have nothing to do with this holiday. One person on one grief site said I have a right to my feelings, another person on another grief site said we must go through our feelings, and yet another intimated that I was wallowing in my self-pity. This person was speaking on general terms but I think she meant me when she wrote that post. Ah, maybe I'm being paranoid, but nevertheless celebrating is not going to make me happy, so I hope I didn't depress anyone, I just needed to share what my plans are for the weekend. But, Wendy, I do like your posts, you always seem to brighten up DS with your inquisitive nature to take us out of the doldrums. So, each day is a new day, who know's how I will feel, I just think I know how I will feel, but I don't know everything. LoL Take care.

Going out for Chinese food with some neighbors then some bowling. In the past we went out with them for dinner and a movie so we're changing it up a little. Then to Mom's on NY day to celebrate another Christmas.
