The decision to sell you ring is all yours my friend.

I am SURE there are those that sell them too! I sold my ring from my first marriage and bought my daughter a laptop computer when there was no money. And that ring came from divorce. NO ONE wanted it, so it was a no brainer in that situation.

I had a friend sell it for me on Ebay. I had an appraisal done, so I'd know the worth and went from there. It sold in 0ne week aftr a bidding war! so that may be a way to go? there are places that buy estate jewelry also, but I don't know too much about them.

You can take it to a jewelry store and have them appraise it and then see what they would offer you for it. But I like Diane's idea better. I think you should do what you feel and maybe you will get more on ebay.

Gold is at a major high right now. Make sure you shop around at gold buyers and take the highest price. My Joe had just bought me a 14K engagement ring and the a 6K wedding band and we never made it to our first anniversary.

I have one married daughter and one single. I was thinking of having the ring made into two rings for them to wear but there is one big diamond and many smaller ones..I dont know how to go about it either...maybe a nice necklace so I can wear it all the time would be better idea for me?

I sold my engagement ring, but not my wedding or anniversary rings. The engagement ring had not been picked out by me or Cliff, it had been given to us by his mother and I always felt it was an unlucky ring. It was his parents' ring and they had divorced - bitterly I might add. His mom had wanted to throw it in the San Francisco Bay but his grandmother stopped her and held onto it in trust. It was nearly 20 years she had to hold onto it, too.

Anyway, I worked with a lady who had lost hers and was looking for an antique diamond ring to replace it. I took it to a jeweler to have it appraised in writing. I gave the appraisal to the lady that bought it so she could insure if she wished and also to show that I had given her a very fair price.

Anything you try to sell right now for the price of the gold you likely will not get a decent price.

I had a family ring made to match my anniversary rings - I am an April baby too so my birthstone is diamond - and I had the ring set with my kids' and Cliff's stones with diamonds in between. It's a beautiful ring and I still wear it on occasion. It was made in the same style as my two anniversary bands which are both eternity rings.

It is unlikely that my sons will ever marry as they are disabled, but I am saving them for them in case they do. If not, then when I die they can sell them.

What you decide to do with your rings is entirely up to you - there is no right or wrong. I am just telling you one thing that I did.

I like your number 6 solution. Years ago I took my engagement ring with 3 diamonds and combined it with my mom's ring with 2 diamonds and had them set in a band. It looks beautiful and I'll wear it until I die.

I don't think I could ever sell my original wedding rings or the bigger diamond ring he bought me for our 31st anniversary that I wore with a simple gold band for the last several years and am still wearing now--they will probably be handed down to my daughters. That being said--I don't think there is anything wrong with you doing whatever your heart tells you to do. Rings have sentimental value--but they are things--in the end things can't go with us. You need to do what works for you--your memories of your sweet husband are in your heart and they can never be taken--the rest is just extra. Don't feel guilty--you have no reason to. Do whatever makes the most sense for you.

I like the getting an appraisal never gave that a thought....

Its just that I have never been that fond of this ring due to its lack of comfort...but never got another.....did not seem important at that time....

SO for me I think its the way to go....and keep his band for me to have forever....it I am sure can be resized and be more comfortable and useful....
