Hello everyone. I haven't posted for a while. About 3 weeks ago I was cleaning my husband's drill press (which is taller than me and very heavy) for a man who was coming to see it the next day,and when I got done about 2 hours later, I was rolling it back into its place when it tilted. I tried to hold the weight but the castors were rolling and it was moving and heading to fall on the Plasma Cutter which is way more expensive than the drill press! I saw the Plasma Cutter and said OH NO, not that !and so I held it as long as I could and moved it away and it and I both went down on the concrete, drill press on top of me.
Yeah, I had my ankle under it and lifted that thing while on the ground and got my ankle out, then my knee was jammed in some mechanism that is on it and I had to wiggle and force my knee out then my head and shoulders. I had a cut on my head, my shoulders were scraped, don't know why, and my foot swelled up. I was limping but was able to put weight on my foot so I knew I hadn't broken anything. I called my neighbor Patrick who came over and lifted the press back onto it's base.
He said wow that's heavy and saw me limping. I didn't tell him it fell on me I told him I dropped it. But of course he saw differently.
BUT I saved the Plasma Cutter!! And both items were sold the next day.
You know it was a wake up call. Doing this work, and when no one is around to help and you get hurt, what will you do?? I had my phone but was lucky my injuries were minor.
I was in a different state of mind for about 3 days. No crying, no sadness, nothing. It was strange. I realized I had to look out for myself.
But within a week I was back as before. Sad and teary eyed, missing my husband more than ever now.
I see my doctor soon and will tell him. I am down and stressed out.
Too many things on my mind and what to do from here. I'm not getting any younger obviously, so what to do....
It's too much. My head feels like a hot air balloon.
Lucky for me I handle 50 lb sacks of horse feed and horses, and square bales of hay on a daily basis or I wouldn't have been able to hold that drill press up as long as I did.
I am in a state of mind that is I will do what has to be done but nothing else interests me. I need to clear out closets etc and cannot get into it.
I feel lost.
I hope you all are okay and hanging on, I know how difficult it is and how long it takes because I am far from over my grief.
Have a good night .

I am more than game to try anything on my own, but it usaaly leads to crying sessions. I try not to feel sorry for myself but it gets overwhelming at times.
Take care of your self.

It's a tough road for us all. My husband would've probably scolded me for moving that drill press. But I must have pushed it from too far down.
Anyway, my foot still hurts but I see the doc soon. A hurt foot is nothing compared to a hurt heart, right??
You all take care too. We do things because we must, but I guess it is good to stand back, take a good look first and THEN do it.
My hubby was strong too and now it's me, 5 ft 2" tall. Yeah. I hate being short.
You know I'd been waiting for something to happen. I knew it was only a matter of time before I got hurt doing something. Better that drill press than a horse kick.!!
WEll got to get back to work. My best to you all. Thanks for replying. You guys know exactly how I feel.
STOP! You are such a little Mighty Mouse! You know that was NOT a good decision on your part, you certainly don't need me to scold you. That said, what were you thinking? You weren't and it's going to come back and bite you if you keep up with doing too much.
I know there's so much to get done and you want to keep moving forward but the risk you took in breaking something and then being laid-up was way too high!
You got lucky, this time, but you're using up your nine lives my dear.
Slow down and think about the cost to you and your animals.......who's going to take care of everything if you're down?
Behave, young lady, before I have to come over there.........

I made a boo boo.
And got a boo boo , too! haha
thanks for making me laugh! Laughter, isn't that what is said to be good for the Soul?
I hope you have a great day tomorrow and you be careful as well. I am trying to be more careful, truly I am.
I'm so glad you had a laugh. But, honestly, I wish we lived closer. I wouldn't be able to do any heavy lifting but I'd stop you from doing it and we would have some laughs about it all!!!!
I still have boxes in Morey's closet that I need to go through and boxes and boxes of pictures, frames and stuff that I need to rummage through [they're stored on top of shelves, under my bed and in my closet], but I just can't get the energy or the gumption to face them. I know that lots and lots of stuff could be thrown out and I'd be just fine but I know he touched it or it has some memory or connection to him and I'd be throwing away pieces of him. I'm not ready to deal with losing any more of him, not yet!!!
Some days I wake up and say, "I'll throw away one thing a day" and, some weeks I do it but most I don't.
It's quite a journey we're on! Take care my Mighty Mouse friend!
