This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
Back on April 30,2013 my husbands life was taken away from us. This day was his 39th birthday; what started to be a wonderful day turned out to be the end of his life and a new journey for my kids and I. As you all know and understand we had just experienced a twist of Faith. As soon as I confirmed the terrible news to my 14 year old daughter and told my 9 year old son of his dads passing; that was so hard to do. Just thinking about it right know as I write brings me a so much pain...
The following day after my husbands passing my kids were still in shock; people walking in and out the house. Many Investigators would stop by the house to provide me with new information regarding the his murder investigation. Community leaders and community members offering their support arriving constantly to my home or called.. i appreciated each and every individual who supported me and provided guidance in this unknown journey but I was still in shock. I wasn't able to comprehend that this was real and that we was never coming home. My kids felt the same way; this is when I took the time and set aside everything and everyone and just provided emotional support to my two children. Looking back at it, I'm grateful that I was able to do such thing and didn't cared what others thought about me. Well, on the third day of his passing my daughter expressed to me that she didn't know how to handle her emotions. She said "mommy this is so hard, I can't believe that he is gone, how can I think like this when I could still feel him. He tucked me in the night of his birthday and he whispered in my ear and told me that everything will be okay, that we is okay and he will never leave us." Then she told me that she had written a poem for her dad, which she wanted to read on his funeral service.
I would like to share this poem with everyone in this community because its amazing to see how a 14 year old is so young beyond her years. I hope this poem could assist you in some way. Thank you for reading this post.
VISION BLURS, THOUGHTS CROWDED,
SOUND TURNS WHITE, AND LIFE TURNS INTO
A FLASH, RIGHT BEFORE YOUR EYES. NOTHING SEEMS CLEAR, SO ALL YOU CAN DO IS MAKE A RIVER THAT TRAILS DOWN YOUR FACE. NOTHING SEEMS RIGHT. YOURE SCARED BECAUSE SOMEONE SO LOVED HAS BECOME AN ANGEL. AN ANGEL WITH SUCH BEAUTIFUL WINGS THAT HAS MADE A LIFE LONG JOURNEY TO HEAVEN. ALL HIS DAYS HERE ON EARTH HERE WERE WORTH EVEY SECOND. HE LEFT THIS EARTH BECAUSE GOD NEEDED AN ANGEL, SO HES UP IN HEAVEN CARING FOR THOSE HE LOVES SO MUCH. HE CLEANS OUR TEARS WITH HIS HANDS AND PROTECTS US WITH HIS WINGS. HE CAN NEVER LEAVE US BECAUSE HES OUR GARDEN ANGEL. BUT ONE THING IS CERTAIN OUR LOVE FOR HIM IS UNDISCRIBABLE BECAUSE NO WORDS EXIST FOR THIS LOVE HE HAS FOR US ALL. WE ARE NEVER ALONE.

A touching poem. Interesting to me that she came to that understanding so quickly. After my daughter died I ended up coming to a similar understanding, only it took me months of processing.
I could not come to a reason why such a vibrant and good person would be taken from us. Eventually I decided that she must have important "jobs" in the next life. I imagine that one of her jobs is to welcome all souls that die in accidents, natural disasters, kids ( anything horrific ) into the next life and Shepard them to heaven. I also think another job is to be a guardian angel for my family - she protects them when I can't be there to do it :)
Of course I realize that it's just my way to understand the why. It is working for me :). Your daughter is just a lot smarter than me because she figured it out instantly :)
