What am I excited about? I love it that I found DS when I did. You guys were my rocks when I needed them most. I am so excited about meeting those rocks!! I've never been much of a "virtual" kinda gal, so it will be so good to put faces to the names and get to know people on a personal level. While I appreciate the virtual hugs, those in person are so much more satisfying!! But the most important thing I love about DS is that no one else in my world understand my heart....you guys GET IT!!
This trip gives me something to look forward to, outside of my ordinary day to day events. Since I lost my husband, most of my travel has been solo. I am looking forward to a trip that includes conversation, laughter and tears with all of my new found friends.
And now, I've discovered that I won't have to ZipLine solo. WooHoo!! Carol and Shirley count me in on that one!!! Rollercoasters anyone?? From the looks of the comments my new found friends also have events to be celebrated....birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, etc.
Until then, counting the days.

I am excited to meet friends from DS in person and get real hugs, though the virtual ones are wonderful too. I am bringing my security blanket friend with me----she has been such a support to me and is willing to be with me or will fill the time by herself and I know she means it. I want to put a faces with names of all you wonderful people that have lightened this load.
Sal, I will let you be the only Sal if you come to Vegas-----I can go back to Sallie-------It will be an emotionally hard trip for all of us-----so come along and book the flight and room.

Three coworkers just came back from Vegas and they ziplined - and I added that to my agenda! So glad a couple of you want to do it, too!!! I hear it is $20 after dark ($15 if before)...count me IN!!! Vicki - the bus to the Grand Canyon is air conditioned...and you probably would have beautiful views even if you didn't get off...but I understand if you don't think you can handle the heat - I am sure it will be hot! I love the heat, love to travel, love an adventure...but most of all am SO looking forward to meeting all of you in person and cashing in some virtual hugs for REAL HUGS! DS truly was a lifesaver for me when I came here in September, just one month after losing my beloved husband and very best friend whom I miss every single moment of the day and night. For those seeking thrill rides, there is always "BIG SHOT" at the Stratosphere casino which is the biggest adrenaline rush EVER...well until maybe the new SKYJUMP they just added. It is a controlled freefall of 855 ft or 108 stories. The highest freefall in the world. I haven't done this one yet but will be willing if others want!!!.......To check out any of these just type in Stratosphere las vegas and check out the thrill rides......

I have not been there since with my sweet Greg and know I'll be feeling so many things. But I know that he is with me, and telling me to go and have A BLAST!!! That's another reason!!!!! :-)

I'M EXCITED THAT although I never thought I'd crawl let alone walk, I'm LOOKING FORWARD to something, making plans for something, and turning myself into a PERSON again with this very huge step.

I can understand how these threads may not give the feeling it gives those of us who are involved and I'm so very sorry if it give you any pain whatsoever. Please know that when we go, we are representing EVERYONE here who has lost a love and trying to get up and LIVE, if only for ONE WEEK-END. And know that in spirit YOU ALL come with us. this board IS very much about supporting each other and this is a small culmination of that support. Not one of us there will not be thinking of our loves and hope they are smiling, as well as thinking of all of you. ALL of you are SPECIAL ansd important. I wish I could go, but I am kind of like Sal in that my husband and I went to Vegas ALL the time ( well, maybe 10 times). It was our place. I went once without him when he sent me and my sister on a trip about a month before he died.

I am afraid the place would bring up some very mixed emotions. But I really would love to meet everyone! Have fun!

I went to the Grand Canyon last year with my son and his family. We rented a car and drove. It is hot out there on the way, but once you are in the park, there are lookouts and inside gift shops, restaurants and it is very shady. There are walkways around and you can walk as much as you would like. Don't worry too much about the heat out there. The streets of Vegas are hotter. I try to walk from one casino to the next and not hit the street.

I like the palm trees - the lights - and knowing that I'm not at home - and I'm meeting friends - I'm getting excited.

Who has already booked shows? What shows did you book? If I want to do that, do I need to do it now or wait until we're there?

I'd really like to do the Grand Canyon thing just for the social aspect of being with everyone. I CAN'T DECIDE. Grrr... I hate it when I can't make a decision.

Just getting there is a BIG BRAVE adventure. Can't wait to GET THERE>

Hi Vicki I want to see Jersey Boys, but have to figure out what the group is going to do. I'm still thinking about the Grand Canyon, but Thurs morning is rough with the time change and all. I hope we have a central spot to meet , and are able to sign up for things - if not, my room is available - I wake up at 5am, and go to sleep at 11 - (really 10 ish). As you can see, I'm a real "party person" ha ha ha.

You can always book the shows when you are there if you want. They have many 1/2 price ticket booths (which aren't exactly 1/2 price...some people can't do the math...lol) but are at a good price and they also have buy one get one free coupons that you can get when you are there for some of the shows. Shuttles or taxis to the hotel have lots...be sure to grab a book.......
Hopefully we will have out another itinerary before long and will make sure we have meet up times and common places so no one will be by themselves...unless they want to be......

I am excited about going to Vegas but then at the same time scared to death. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and having a great time. Can't wait to see the Grand Canyon and now, I will even do the zipline. Not to sure about that the sky jump. :) Leanette
