I did ok for a first Valentine's Day until I was on my way home from work walking through the train station and seeing all of the guys buying flowers from the kiosk in the station. Then when I got on the train the guy sitting in front of me was signing his card and held it up to read it over and I could see the Love Name and the xoxo's after it. I was a mess when I got off the train. Went home and drank a couple of glasses of wine and watched "Gone With the Wind". I will make a different plan for next year!

I made it through the first one, but I'm glad it's over. My daughter took me shopping and out to dinner on Sunday because it was my birthday. I was alone yesterday--had wine and watched the Bachelor last night. Hope everyone's week gets better.

I had no idea it would be this difficult...I am still weeping today! This was also my first w/o My dear Husband of 41 years.

Thanks for the opportunity to share. This was my 2nd Valentine's without my husband and was harder than I thought it would be. It didn't help that after I got home from work I started running a fever and developed a sore throat and aches and pains. I ended up going to bed around 7am just to get warm. My teeth were chattering from the fever. Boy, how to feel really alone. I never was one to get sick very often but when I did my husband was usually there to nurse me along. Something we just did for each other. Today I'm home from work trying to feel better and miss him so much. I'm glad the holiday has passed. Deb

To everyone else....IT'S OVER!

I had to work a 12 hour day, so I really didn't think about it alot. Plus, I'd only slept two hours that night, so I was trying to keep my eyes open, reading a book on mental illness and studying Spanish.

Not a bad day, but I miss him terribly. Still, I've sort of carved a life out for myself. I'm sure next year will be a lot better.
