My girl passed on Dec. 5th. March 2nd was our 43rd anniversary. I wish things were getting better, but they're not.
Allow me to ramble. My Love had a massive heart attack on the day after Thanksgiving. She was put in an induced coma until Dec. 5th. When they took her out she was good for awhile, but the pains came back. A great many things happened that I won't bore you with.
When the pain came back she kept hollering DNR,DNR. I held her and said,"You don't mean that, You can't leave me alone" , and her answer to me was "shut up Joey". Those were the last words my Love and I said to each other.
Am I mad about that, NO. For the first time in her beautiful life my girl thought about herself.
She told me to shut up because she didn't want to think about me. If she did she would fight ,and she was so tired of the fight she wanted it to end. What a lucky man I was to have this wonderful, caring, adorable woman as my wife.

turn those last words into such a beautiful tribute to her.
Peace and strength to you,

So our stories sound very similar, Joe. It's a real shock to be so happy together one moment and to have that all tore away the next. I went through stages where I hoped for full recovery, where I prayed to have the opportunity to take care of her even if she was permenantly disabled, to accepting her death.
The truth is, we talk about dying but we're kind of protected from the reality of it. Death is always something that happens to someone else. I think that applies to our loved ones as well, because a spouse is literally like an extension of oneself. Other people lose their wives or husbands--not us!
We all wear out. Even if our spirit is strong, we're mere flesh and blood. Sometimes death is a blessing. I'm happy my wife didn't suffer. A few hours of pain at the start, and it was all over. Thank God she didn't suffer!
Joe, I can see your growth in just the last three months - the difference of your post when you first found us to the posts you have today. For that I'm proud of your progress. Please give yourself credit for it.
Wishing you a peaceful day...
