FWIW, my wife of nearly 19 years died in November, and I'm also subject to crying bitterly out of the blue. I would advise you to take it easy on the xanax-it is a nasty drug that has several side effects that you really do not want. If you can do with out it, please do so...You might try herbal things such as valerian.
I am very sorry for your loss. I am told things get better, but I have only small glimpses of that myself, and I can't really comment on it.

It is almost 3 years and I miss him as much as the day he passed. Little things trigger the tears, but I let them flow. Holidays are the worse, but I am still standing.
You'll be OK and it is perfectly normal to want to be with him. So do I, but it isn't my time yet. I believe we all as widows and widowers would choose to be in heaven with our spouses, rather than here on earth if given the choice.
