The other day I was cleaning the water feature I put in for my wife and a bright blue dragonfly with gold wings stayed with me the entire time, quite unafraid. She was always fascinated by dragonflies. It was unusual in that most around here are copper colored. I buried her ashes last weekend and noticed the dragonfly I'd painted on the urn I made for them a few months back. I had painted it with the same blue body and gold wings. Shook me a little. When I buried her ashes there was a single white butterfly that stayed with me. I went back the next morning and it found me again and didn't leave until I got up to go. I've never been a "signs and wonders" kinda guy but I may have to rethink that.

The dragonfly I mentioned in my earlier reply has been back to visit. It comes to the back porch and sits with me almost every time I'm out there. It was sitting with me while I had my coffee this morning so I snapped a pic of it and changed my avatar. Capri and I always enjoyed time spent out on the porch. Guess I'm not as skeptical as I once was.

According to Thai belief, butterflies are souls from the dead, coming back to reassure us that all is well.

I too had a butterfly visitation. It was sitting quietly on the back of my husband's garden chair just a day after he died. I was weeping uncontrollably - close to a state of panic.
All of a sudden something made me pause - and look up. There was this serene, calm butterfly on his chair, one that I'd never seen before. There was something about its stillness that made me sit up and take notice.

It was later on when I looked up the symbolic meaning of butterfly that I understood. And was so happy. I knew there was something special about this butterfly.

Another time, on the day we scattered his ashes, there were butterflies dancing all around. My attention was drawn to a pair of gentle white ones. The meaning for a pair of butterflies: undying bond of love.

I'm so glad your dear hubby sent such a lovely butterfly - and one you could kiss! And I loved reading everyone's stories.

My two cents? Definitely your husband.

I once had a hummingbird hovering outside the kitchen window, staring at me. Have not seen one at my window since.

What a precious gift and one to cherish. I also received such a gift last year a few months after hubby passed when I was going to pick his mom for a Doctor`s appointment. It was during a torrential rain and all of a sudden 2 yellow butterflies flew up from in front of my vehicle and slowly up the hood and the windshield up towards the sky. I know they were a visit from Howie and his dad .

I have had similar visits. I see dragonflies with extremely unusual patterns that I have NEVER seen in my area before my husbands death. Also, on fathers day we had a deer wanderstraight into our backyard and just stand there. There has never been a deer in or around my yard before in the 5 years I have lived there.
turns out my mother went to a medium, and my husband announced he had stopped for a visit on Fathers day!!!

You see the picture I chose for this site to represent me...It's a monarch butterfly and is one of the "signs" my honey sends my way here in Central Florida...And these beautiful butterfly's are not all that common even here. Yesterday one kept flying around me and my dog as we played in my backyard for about 20 minutes..zooming in and out ...actually appearing as if joining us in play...this is what I know to be her letting us know she's with us and is happy...I would not tell this type of occurrence to everyone as you surely know many would dismiss it as unbelievable or as a coincidence. But I totally believe this is how they can reassure us that all is well with them and they are still with us...It's a great feeling ...a very special gift from her to me...
