This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
Diana and I loved to travel, we took a major trip each year (usually a cruise) and lots of short and impromptu weekends.
I would still like to travel but how do you do it alone? My favorite part of traveling was to walk around the local area and discuss it with Diana. Even on the cruises we usually just spend the port days walking around the local attraction or town we ended up in.
Several of the single or widowed women that I know travel with girlfriends but I never see guys doing that (and of my circle of friends cant imagine someone I would want to travel with). Cruises seem particularly difficult as the cabins are always priced for two.
Any suggestions, ideas or warnings?

Just some responses, I do have two sons and they will do the camping trips with me, although I doubt they would enjoy a cruise and kicking around some foreign port.
I traveled on business a lot and sometimes would take in the local sights, but I usually thought to myself this would be so much better with Lil Bear here. It would even be OK if I could just share the experience when I got home.
I checked out that cruise ship, the Epic, and the studio cabins look interesting. I am not sure but NCL appears a bit pricey, seems like I could pay for two spots in an interior cabin on a different line for the price of a single studio there. That said I am probably going to force myself to do a cruise sometime this coming year.
Linda, actually I am in SoCal, about 30 miles north of LA. I would be interested in seeing what this Travel Club is all about.

I have a much younger girlfriend who travels solo all the time and loves it. TJ I loved your post, it has me ready to get up and go.
