I really feel for you. I don't think I should be alone that day.
Ken sounds like he was very romantic. You are a lucky lady to have had such a special man in your life.
I am so sorry, it good you have found this site. It will help you understand the road you are unfortunately traveling, becuase you are not alone.

My husband passed on April 1st and our anniversary was April 24th. Like you, the sting of his death is still very painful, but I found it so hurtful that no one wished ME a Happy Anniversary. I am still alive and this was still my wedding anniversary regardless of my husband was still here to celebrate it or not.
Let me tell you with heartfelt love "Happy Anniversary!!" I would hate for you to look back at this day and have had no one to say that to you.
Much love for you this day, Anita
His loss is made harder by the fact that, as you say, people are suddenly quiet and don't want to speak his name, or...what? I don't know. It's not like he didn't exist, and talking about my sweetheart brings me joy! I am so grateful to my friends and family that will listen to me talk about him.
I took Valentines Day and his birthday into my own hands, and went out to dinner with friends and family, at my invitation. They did their best to understand my need to commemorate those days, to toast him, and to talk about our him, to celebrate him and the two of us together. I am so grateful to them for moving with me in this way, as I know it was unusual. I ate all his favorite foods, and drank his favorite drinks, and felt he was there with me, enjoying it all. If I had waited for anyone to say anything, there would have been silence, and I would have found that unbearable.

Celebrate your anniversary with lovely memories you were so blessed to have so many! (Even though we all had hopes & dreams of many more years together!!)
Blessings,

My daughter was wonderful, she gave me a Anniversary card since ours was shortly after he died. I kept it, and just put in our scrapbook I am working on. But that card meant alot for someone to remember it.

But I truly believe our spouses are with us, still. Look for the signs. I bet your hubby will somehow come through for you. There's no doubt in my mind that he will. Love never, ever dies!!! Not a love like yours.
