Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
Hugs to you,

The thing that I remembered the most at one year is I had thought that if I could survive to one year, I would magically feel better and be able to move on. It's not that way at all. It took longer for me to begin to feel some sense of which direction I would move toward.
For a couple more months I felt like I was in a boat and I was paddling as hard as I could with one paddle and going around in circles. I posted about that then.
Then I realized that I needed more alone time with my memories and needed to just be still for awhile. I was still.
I am feeling more at peace now. I guess I am learning how to live with the knowledge that I will always love my husband. I will always miss him. It will never be fair that he died so young. I will always wish he was here. I would always give anything to have him here. I will always have moments of intense grief, but that will be less and less often over the months and years. I will never forget him..that would be impossible. I will make a special place for his things and our special memories. Life will never be the same. Though I hate that he is gone, life is what it is. I will keep putting one foot in front of the other. He would want me to be happy. I do want to live and I have a lot to live for, and I will do so much good still in my life.
No one can ever replace him. I will carry him and our love in my heart forever....that will never change.
hugs to you as you keep putting one foot in front of the other.
