Avoid thinking about many things most of the time. Get involved in one thing at a time, and that works OK usually for a while. Anything that takes decisions tends to be avoided, rationed to maybe a couple on a good day. Everything still feels temporary.

Making decisions are taking me forever...I get too depressed so i don't..my older sister doesn't understand me,,,shes never been a widow either...

Yes, it's part of the initial impact of grief.. I was in a kind of shocked, numb state. Body and mind tends to want to shut down. ( it seems to protect us from all the tangled emotions that surface).
I kept my thoughts on God's Word, which in turn gave me peace and strength to deal with
the devastating impact of my husband's, passing.
The more I share and relate to people going through this, the easier it is to think and move forward in a healthy way.

Shelda I changed what I watched on tv to keep funny thoughts running through my head all day. I sought the most slapstick comedies to entertain myself. For me, it was a mechanism to control thinking about serious issues that would lead to thinking about my husband and the conversations, and then the soul-wrenching grief would follow. For me keeping it light and lively with any form of entertainment helped me control how much I would think about my husband. You have to find what works for you and keeps entertained during your time of grief.

yeah thinking at this point is overrated. something i find my thoughts drifting to all the things my husband is oging to miss, all the things we will not be sharing, all the things we shared, holidays...the list never ends and i get sucked in to the emotional abyss i was successfully avoiding. it may sound strange but when i start going down my thought provoking rabbit hole i have a mantra "right here right now" that brings me back to the present - it seems to work most times. Also im now never with out noise a radio, tv anything to drown out overthinking

Music was helping but now it makes me depressed...I have been down this road before and kind of remembered some of the pain after my first husband was killed on the job...Never though I would ever go through this again though...
