I was reading about Victorian mourning rituals the other day, thinking how fortunate we are not to live in those times. Now, I'm not so sure. I think the Victorians were smart when it comes to mourning.
The Victorians wore black for over a year, switching to different fabrics and colors as the year went on. Sounds horrible to most of us nowadays, but think about it. No one would have asked a widow wearing black when she planned to get married again, or she should get on with her life. Back then, a period of mourning was expected and no one dared break the rules.

I'm too young to be victorian, and too old to be goth, but I'm wearing black to match my mood. Someone once told me that black is slimming, so I own alot of black clothes...I am wearing my Widow's Black, especially when I feel fat!
