A lovely poem I found for my Husband Greg. I will love you always and forever:

The Broken Chain

We little knew that day that God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly in death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; for part of us went with you the day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide, and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link us again.

Thanks for sharing the poem. We can all relate. Today I attended a birthday celebration for my granddaughter, 14 - which was nice. Frank's resting place is in that area, so I took some new flowers for his grave and removed the old ones. There was a burial service in progress nearby; a tent still standing where one was probably held yesterday, and another new grave with flowers covering it. His "neighborhood" is growing. This is the "Honor Garden" for veterans. I thought of those who have just lost their mates, and the hard time they face. Then, there are the young ones growing up -- the circle of life continues.

What a wonderful poem. It sure says how we are all feeling. It will 1 year this coming May and I feel so lost still. I try to put on a good front to all but it is still so very hard. Thanks for the poem.

Glad to see the poem again. I put it on DS quite some time ago too.

I typed this poem and framed it and have it on my Memory Wall for Joe. I also placed an old tractor at the bottom of the poem ~~ Joe loved tractors, especially antique ones.

The poem says it all. Thanks for the reminder.

Oh I love that last line .....it is so true..nothing seems the same.....but someday our families will be back together....just a temporary parting....thank you for sharing that...Debbie

It is beautiful!!! I found the very same poem right after my husband died. It expressed my feelings so completely.

Beautiful Poem, I am so sorry for your loss, please share
your story ? Where do you live ? My husband Jim passed away
9.25.09 from esophageal cancer, this grief journey is very hard...
the 25 th will be 18 months and I still can't believe it...from your
posts I can tell you are a religious/spiritual person as am I, without
my faith I would never have survived... I live in Phoenix and also
San DIego in the summer, I am actually in San DIego until Monday.
I see you are somewhere in CA...I attend a weekly Widow Support
Group in Phoenix and it has been a life saver for all of us, I am
hoping to get one going in San Diego this summer, need to find an
inexpensive/Free venue to hold the meetings...I have met some
wonderful new friends who GET IT ....I wish you peace..thanks for
friending me...
