I think, for me, it was because when I woke up everything was "real" again. By this I mean, my husband was gone and never coming back. That's when all the fear, panic and anxiety set in, again. When I wake up now, I take a slow deep breath before getting up. Time will and does help to improve those feelings. One day, one step, at a time.
Peace and hugs to you!

Now I wake up and I feel disoriented, then the sadness sets in because he is gone, and like you said, it is real. Then fear of facing my problems and fear of doing the wrong thing in dealing with them. Top that off with an hour alone in the car in rush hour traffic.
I have tried getting up earlier so I can have some time and process what is going to happen that day. Sometimes that helps, sometimes it does not.
I found taking a pad with my coffee and writing my feelings a helpful way to begin my day. Sharon
I did have a very sad feeling in the mornings, I have to say it has moderated a lot in the past two years.

Mornings are not good. That was a special time for us....slowly awakening, getting him coffee, showing our love for each other. So, yes, I awaken now and it all comes back to me....WHAM....it is real. I do know how it feels....and I wish there was a way to gracefully move to a better place each day.....maybe with time passing? It is hard....we all know that....I just hang on hoping it will get better!
