Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
Your emotions will be all over the place. I have a quote that I read
daily to help on grieving.... "Grief never ends, but it changes. It's a passage not a place to stay. Grief is Not a sign of Weakness Nor a Lack of Faith. It is the price of LOVE."
My husband had a sense of humor too. He died 10 days before his big 70th birthday. On his birthday, I was walking outside alone, and it started hailing, of all things. I live in a Southern California beach town, where that never happens! He was from the cold Northeast, so I felt this hail was a sign from him, letting me know he made it safely on the other side, and was doing okay. Also a bit of a joke on me.
Kinda sounds like your rabbit...
How do we manage to go on after this? People tell me one day at a time and sometimes moment to moment. I want to be with him yet know that is not a thought I should be entertaining. I am trying to stay strong
I believe in these signs. Feathers, birds, weather, rabbits, leaves, whatever they are that mean something that only we can understand. I believe these are messages from them to us; messages to tell us that they are still with us, checking in on us and letting us know they made it to the Spirit world alright.
Someone recently told me that someday I would meet somebody who would keep me company but I cannot fathom that at this point. I just want my Rocky back even if I know that's not possible.
My mind wonders....I sometimes snap back into reality and realize I had taken myself on a memory journey; I must look like I'm just staring blankly into space. It's hard to stay present at times.
I keep thinking what might have been and if only he had gone to see a doctor, he wouldn't have had the heart attack. I blame myself for not making him go and then I realize that he was a very strong willed man who thought he was bullet proof.
I wait for him to appear in my dreams and then hope I will remember the dream.
