Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
When my husband died two of his doctors called me. One said to me, "Geri, I didn't think he'd go so soon." The other doctor's first words to me were, Geri, are you relieved?" I shouted, "What did you just say" and he added "Are you relieved that he is no longer in pain?"
I was speechless.
Neither one of these comments should be expressed to a widow/widower after their spouse has died by either a doctor or anyone else. Please give me your opinions.

Geri, I am appalled that a physician would say that to you! That is so awful, and I'm so sorry that it happened to you.

A month after Howie passed I had to book and appointment with our primary care Doctor who is normally a no nonsense , let`s get to the point kind of Doctor but in this situation and the way he was with Howie , he was amazing. He kept bringing me back in every month for the first 8 months to make sure I was doing o.k. and coping o.k.
