My husband passed away July 2013. Approximately 2 days after the funeral, his daughter called asking for a death certificate, (I listen to the voice mail and didn't respond), because they were anxious to apply for his social security. I was not eligible because my pension was more than his ss. I did qualify for his two pensions. I am not greedy. I am blessed. I was at a funeral today and one of the members mentioned they had seen his ex wife on the news. Well, it seems social security had declared her dead, the same day as my husband and cancelled her pension of $1800 a month and her insurance for four months, while she was trying to convince them she was still alive. They finally straighten it out and called it a "keying error." She also referred to him as her husband, not ex husband. His picture really struck at me when they showed him. We were together 36 years and she alway felt he was hers, She married twice after him and went him to his name after her third husband died. I am so grateful that I don't have the "scheming, scamming, plotting and planning" disease. His children never regarded me and we have not communicated since August, the day of his funeral
His children and mine ranged in age from 48 to 56 years old. But they still lived this fantasy that their mother and father should be together and I was in their way. Their marriage ended after 13 years.
