well here in California it's officially Christmas eve day & Im really missing my husband sooo much tonite because we were always up early on Christmas eve day heading out to get those last minute gifts, I always purposely left a few gifts to be bought last minute because I knew how much he loved that last minute hustle bustle of Christmas, I didn't so much but he did, so we always got up early, went to breakfast first & then hit the stores (usually the mall) he was a people watcher & loved the mall at Christmas time, even last Christmas when we had just gotten the devastating news 2 weeks before Christmas that he was terminal, he still insisted on going out that day shopping, so we did, maybe he knew it was going to be his last time to do this & I remember we even stayed out shopping that day longer than we usually would have in the past & as much as I really didn't enjoy it like he did, I would give anything to be going shopping with him tomorrow.
The down side to your story is that you no longer can share an outing with your dear husband. There are TWO upsides, however: 1) you won't have to face the crowded highways and malls and 2) you shall always have the memories of spending those Christmases past with your honey.

My DH was also diagnosed around Christmas. The first was when he was initially diagnosed, and the second when his cancer returned. The family also lost my dear mother on December 22, 10 years ago now.
Unlike other holidays, which are difficult also, Christmas is at the bottom of my list. I am so glad it is over.
