forget about the Friday nights. How about those Saturdays!?!?!?!? A day of running errands to come to?!?!?!? Nobody. All I can hear in my head is the song about "Another Saturday night and I aint got nobody" Remember that one? Making food to bring to my Mother in Law tomorrow, having a glass of wine, have the TV on for company. Now THAT'S a party!!! ;-)

I miss that too - somebody to share the news of the day with. Instead I come home to an empty house, turn on the TV to watch another rerun (alone!) and snuggle with the dog on the couch. It's funny - two years ago I would have probably had the same routine of watching reruns on the TV BUT I would have been snuggling with Rich - and that makes all the difference - having him there beside me. Even boring evenings were better with the one you love beside you.

Good for you, you accomplished great things! But somehow things seem hollow without that special someone to share our victories and sorrows with-I know. I am working hard on silencing that little voice that whispers, 'But it's not the same and it's not enough," in regards to all my blessings and attempts at joy and happiness.

Congratulations on a successful work week. I know what you mean about Friday nights...my weekends in general are less than exciting. On Friday night I got home from work late, took a shower, ate something from the microwave (haven't cooked a decent meal in a while), sat in front of the tv channel surfing until 10:00 and then went to bed. Your life seems so productive compared to mine. I retired a month before my husband got ill...cared for him until he died and now nothing...no job, no husband...not sure where I go from here. You aren`t pathetic Pete have another martini! Hugs Lu Ann

I am very impressed!!! But I understand you want to share it with huour wife...how many times have I wanted to share something with my husband and I cant...my Saturday night 10-2 am...cleaning our church...putting license plate and tags on my car (1st time)...changing my first flapper in the toilet( which my son informed today is still leaking, but I did it!!!) and ironing clothes....fun fun fun!!! haha!

Friday nights were always our Martini nights. Jim would say, "What's our toddy?" and I would go through the list of possibilities.. Appletini, Cosmo, etc.. he would decide, I would shake and we both would sip. How I miss those Friday nights... I hear you Pete.

Geez, Friday night. I went through my mail, had a salad and a grilled cheese sandwich, and watched The Social Network with my cat.

I had a little something to celebrate Friday night also. The DA finally decided to file charges on the man that hit my husband! Yeah! It only took 13 months and a phone call to the DA's office every month.
I celebrated with some scrambled eggs and toast that I shared with the dog and spent the rest of the evening painting sealant on the grout lines in my newly tiled shower.

Pathetic!

Friday nights were always "our" night. We usually went out to eat ~~ most of the time with another couple or two. Occasionally, just us. Now, on Friday nights during football season ~~ we were at a game.

So, now Friday nights are certainly lonely!!

This past Fri. night, I had gone to the Assisted Living Facility where Joe's uncle is living. On Thurs. afternoon I had been down there and placed a heart monitor on him that he has to wear for 21 days. I'm sure it is going to be a crazy 21 days. The uncle has Alzheimer's and asks every 10 minutes what the monitor is and why he has to wear it.

Therefore, I went back Fri. to see if he still had it on correctly ~~ even though I left a large note on the box in the Nurse/Aide's office. One of the sticky pads was on his tee shirt and NOT on him. I changed out 2 of the sticky pads and made sure the monitor and cell phone/communicator was still on. After that he wanted me to stay and eat dinner with him, so I did. I didn't have anything else to do!

Around 8:30 pm I arrived back home and my 13 yr old grandson walked out and decided to spend the night with me. So, that was my Fri. night.

Just life w/o Joe. It would have been a lot like that with him here, but, not lonely; and we could have discussed his uncle and our kids and grandkids.

It is okay to whine! Congrats on the great work accomplishments! Quite an achievement... a $400 K grant being funded. Way to go!!

Paying bills is not fun at all. Bob always did that chore. I have learned to do them all online and it is easy, but it isn't enjoyable.
