Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
Your husband may have "died" but he is still with you in spirit. Whether you are a spiritual person or not, occurrences are going to happen to you in your life (as they have in mine) that are not just coincidental or unexplainable, but are jaw-dropping and frozen-in-your-tracks kinds of occurrences. No matter how you or doubting others might try to explain away such occurrences, you will instinctively feel the guiding spiritual presence of your husband. I can tell you this from my own experiences of the last two years. Even skeptical people with whom you choose to share such moments may not question the fact of their occurrence, but skeptics will question your interpretation of the occurrence. Why do skeptics somehow warrant credibility? They weren't even there. For you, the moment will speak for itself.
I have experienced those moments and believe they are guided by the spiritual presence of my wife. It has been valuable to write in detail to myself the specifics of these rare moments. I believe that God created life, and that after "all the days of my life, I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever".
It has been 6 months for me and I still cry almost daily. Not as intense and often as the first month or so, but it still hits very hard at times.
For me, the best help has been finding a small group of widowed people locally who have helped me and help me every day. They understand, empathize and just get what I am going through.
Be kind to yourself...don't rush anything and don't think it will go away anytime soon.
I don't have any real words of wisdom, this is awful however there is not much we can do but find fellowship and survive until it is a less awful
