I had to smile while reading this! How funny that I had this same experience this week! We had a gas fireplace installed the month before my husband passed away (two years ago). The past two winters I have panicked at the thought of starting it back up. I am embarrassed to admit that even the remote control that is used for the fireplace challenges me! Too many options on it! LOL! I, too, went to Youtube to seek help.This was before I called the company that installed the fireplace and asked them to come out to re-school me on the remote control...was told it would cost $155.00 for them to help me with the remote! Good old Youtube to the rescue!

I'm impressed. I relied on Susie for so much, and I've had to learn things myself. I feel good when I can do it. Keep learning and growing. Chris

Good for you.....I know these challenges can be overwhelming, especially if we're not used to doing any of it.

Horton, my 95lb Lab goes to the potty on my patio, in a potty box. I need to change the filler [which is Cyprus mulch], it can be a daunting task for me [with a bad back] to do myself. I use a shovel, big plastic bag and do it very slowly.

I refuse to become dependent on anyone else. When I can no longer bend, then I will have no choice, until then I'm Horton's "go-to girl!"

It was actually 45 degrees here last night and I was coooold!!! Good job on keeping yourself warm!!!!

You know it's been a good day when you you even have a small victory! Been pretty much on my own for many years raising a son, taking care of the homestead and working. My first major victory was when the furnace went out on me in the new place I bought after moving to Ga. Even though I have a partner in my life again, there are days when I have to take things on my own because he works long hours, but thankfully there is you tube and my past experimentations to fall back on. You go!
