I am back at work today but have been deathly sick the last two days. I started feeling feverish and a tickle in my chest and throat Monday and by Tuesday I was fighting a high fever with coughing and sneezing the whole nine yards.
I rarely get sick but when I do it usually kicks my ass. This is the first time in 21 years however that I have been so sick and also been so alone. You see I'm usually a big baby when I am sick and Amy was grateful that wasn't too often. But when I was she was always there to comfort me. She would come home from work to check on me and since she worked just a couple blocks from our home she would check on me quite often. She would make me soup or whatever I wanted. If I had a fever she would put a cold towel on my head and stroke my sweaty hair.
Her just being there made the whole difference and I actually think it hastened my illness.
This time all I could think about while I was shivering under several blankets is how alone I felt and how her touch could make me feel so much better. I am truly alone now. ~Pete

I'm not going to offer any solutions as there really are none. You just have to ride it out. Being sick always make the outlook look worse.
But as usual...you will get through this wave too.
Amy is still with you so just get some rest and recoupe.
And of course....you always have all of us to keep you company!
Feel better friend!

But I'm not supposed to be talking about the weather on a support group. I'm with Darcie, Amy IS with you. I am about 8-1/2 months out now, and as time goes on I am getting better at recognizing the signs, and knowing that Marylou is indeed with me. It's a whole lot different than at the start of all this...when the possibility that I might never see Marylou again, for eternity, twisted me inside-out in every waking moment. But we're all adults here, and basically too old to believe in coincidence. All those "coincidences" that have happened since Marylou left this life, are only a verifier that Marylou is right here with me. Amy is right there, reaching out to you when you hurt, and she awaits the reunion. Love never dies!
On Monday, we had the funeral for my dad who was diagnosed with a very aggressive brain tumour last Christmas eve...The parallel with my husband getting sick at that time of year was not lost (I called 911 on Christmas day and he never came back home and passed 1 month later) , I was really struggling and feeling sorry for myself that my husband should have been there with me at the funeral of my father and then I just asked him to give me strength. I don't know if there is a spirit out there that hears me but I chose to believe, I have no proof but like a placebo effect, it helps me be stronger. .
All that to say that her memory, can help you through some of the times such as the illness you just went through...xoxo
I know that being alone and being sick is so difficult. We've lost our partners who were our caretakers when we didn't feel well, now we're on our own. It's not much fun and it's very tough!!!
Feel well!

Peace and strength,
