I still remember scattering Don's ashes on the mountain ridge where he watched the sun rise in the early morning. It was the day of his birthday and his brother and our children were there. We found a mountain laurel plant to serve as a resting place for him.

It was a somber experience, but somehow I realized that he wasn't there under the mountain laurel. He lived onin a new form that would be with me always. Wishing you peace. Sharon

I have my husbands ashes, I have my first Service Dogs ashes and I can't part with them. They both passed within 10 months of each other. They adored each other as I did both of them.

I wish you strength and freedom as you open the door for the rest of your journey through life. I hope it wasn't too difficult for you.

I never wanted to be cremated but now, I've changed my mind and I want my death to be handled exactly the way Morey's was. It was perfect. So easy, so lovely, so respectful.

Thank you everyone for your prayers and good thoughts. It was actually quite peaceful. My friend stood quietly by as I first poured my husband's ashes and then those of our four dogs on the mountain. I thanked them all for sharing their lives with me, my friend and I hugged and we left A few tears rolled down my cheeks, but I didn't lose it like I thought I might. The day was perfect and the mountains were beautiful and green because of all the rain we had this monsoon season. I feel very much at peace now. Whether it will last or not remains to be seen.

I just brought my husbands ashes home yesterday... I will keep them forever like my father's ashes... maybe I will scatter them eventually but right now he is with me... a part of him.... I want him to raise up like a Fenix from the ashes and take me in his arms.. maybe it will happen in the dreams... be strong... big hug to you....

My prayers are with you. I am happy for you that it didn't make you break down! It's funny - the things you "think" will make you break - don't and the little things that shouldn't - do! I'm glad you felt at peace. Reminds me of my husbands funeral. From the time we left to go to the funeral home - - I thought "how am I gonna do this". But when we went in - surpisingly I didn't even cry. Somehow, seeing him look like Rich again - I know that sounds weird - but compared to how he looked in the hospital. He looked so at peace - it somehow gave me peace! Hugs to you.
