I've never been scared in our home. Lately, randomly, I am (for maybe 2 weeks). Thank God for my dogs who help comfort me and never seem spooked (that's a good sign, right?). When my kids or other guests are here it's less strong. I've had these tingly feelings like someone is watching me. I've felt it so strongly that I've ran down my bedroom stairs and outside of the house because I'm so freaked out. I used to talk to my LH and say "turn on a light or tv so I know you are here with me" (never happened). Now I say, "maybe don't as this is all scaring me". Anyone else experience this? I have a friend who says it's my Tony and he isn't meaning to scare me. Idk. But I can't even sleep right now because I feel like something is in my closet (the rational part of me knows this is like a 5 year old emotional state for goodness sakes). I know I sound like a crazy person but I really never ever get scared like this. I even have gotten weird about my husband's ashes. Like scared. I told my kids we need to do as he requested and scatter them and soon. Up until this scared thing I was kind of putting that off as I wasn't ready to let them go. Again-- I am not a person to ever get scared so it feels so weird to me.

It is possible your anxiety over not having scattered your husband's ashes are what's stirring up your fearful emotions. I don't think your husband would be trying to make you upset or fearful. I did have odd stuff happen around the house and felt Cliff's presence many times, but it was not a feeling of fear but of reassurance that I had. Perhaps taking care of the ashes will help.
I got a lot of scammer calls trying to sell me a security system shortly after Cliff died. That scared me. I think they were trying to figure out if I had a system so I could be robbed. I always told them I already had a security system and had it for years. Some women have found it useful to put a pair of their husband's old boots by the door so that it looks like a man still lives there. I also left Cliff's recording on the answering machine. It freaked out the people who knew him and knew he was dead, but it kept the creeps at bay. (Plus I could call it sometimes just to hear his voice again).
I hope some of these replies are helpful.

Martha
Take care. May you find peace.
A few months ago my fire alarms started going off in the middle of the night. First I looked for a fire and there was nothing. I tried taking out some batteries..I turned the power to the house off and on (in the basement! in the dark!), each thing would work for a bit and then the alarms would go off again. Finally, after an hour I turned all of the power off and went with a flashlight and unplugged them from the main electrical line until I found the three culprits. I was never scared. I was mad that I was doing this alone but not scared (my dogs were beyond upset, of course, as it was so so LOUD!). Now I wonder about that experience. I read that this can happen if the fire alarm gets dusty. But 3 at the same time in the middle of the night?? Just to be clear I mean the alarms were all going off very loud..not the beeping of a battery being low. So now I am thinking that maybe Tony said "well, I set off the fire alarms and you didn't know it was me so I guess I need to give you tingles and the feeling that I'm watching you." Who knows. LIke Emptyinside I do believe in this stuff...somewhat anyway. The whole thing, however, could definitely be my anxiety about spreading the ashes. Our one and only conversation about it went like this:
Tony: I want my ashes to be buried by Fred (our family dog who is buried in a lovely spot overlooking our lake).
Me: No. We are not burying you by the dog. In the yard. No.
Tony: Well you don't get to pick.
Me: Actually I do.
And then we laughed. But we never had a serious conversation about spreading his ashes. I hate this. I feel ready (I'm going to keep some in a small urn with a candle to be mixed with some of mine and spread when I die). I don't know. It's all so upsetting. But at least I'm no longer scared.
I file that along with the other WSICE - Weird S**t I Can't Explain - like the strong scent of roses in middle of winter when there were none anywhere near me (his favorite flower), or feeling someone stroke my hair when no one was there (he loved my long hair). It transcends logic and reason, science and religion, and what have you. I am not a New Ager, nor am I stupid or superstitious - I am very much a nerd-ette. But I know it's Cliff.
Love and Hugs.....
Deb, I'm so sorry that you went through scary moments, and I offer you my condolences for the passing of your dear husband. I so understand how you feel. My own husband is with the Lord as well.
In the sense of it all we, who are widows and widowers, are more keenly attuned to the so called "bumps in the night." And I've never been frightened of my own husband's presence. He visits our home very often. Though always in peace. And I live with a safe feeling.
Yet before it all, we were then accustomed to listening for the works of performances inside the home as a couple, and, especially during the late hour of night, it is challenging not to have the usual two pairs of ears sharing in the responsibility of the safety for the home surroundings. When this responsibility falls on the surviving spouse, of course, it is always a watch and be ready, guarded type of feeling to deal with.
In your recent case of strange events, mostly the unusual happening was due to a time for certain in-home fixtures to be replaced or repaired. And the hurling thoughts of anxiety for having to decide what to do with his ashes may have caused you the urge to flee because of supposed dread; likely caused by your personal fear to this pressing responsibility with the ashes. You desire to do what's right to please him, because of devoted love for him. So, indeed, credit the feeling to get away from your home to the spooky designs of the devil, because Lucifer (Satan) has a way of trampling the emotions of mourners to fear that it is the departed whom are the ones causing strange, mysterious, nonscientific, paranormal activity of phenomenal powers inside your home.
Pray always that your heart and mind will not be overcharged by the perverted idea that your beloved would frighten you or do you harm. Never would the Lord allow your husband to cross boundaries while in the spirit world and harm you or frighten you. It is true that your beloved still has personal affiliations and occasional contacts with you, yet this is usually friendly, harmless actions, of which are only allowed respectively by God Himself, as it is His effort to comfort you during times of heavy, uncontrolled sorrow, or while there is need to communicate a warning of some personal nature.
Complex as it all is with the world of the departed, at times God reserves the privilege to send a loved one to a spot of action as a miracle of faith. And when you are better acquainted with grief, where there is not much sadness or disappointment, you will then have dramatic experiences with your husband while in visions or dream states. But you must flow out with the sorrow so that the Lord may logically introduce you to the spirit life in which your husband now lives peacefully and restfully.
Much love & you have my best hopes for this new way of life. Same for all above. I hope for all posters herein a rational healing. Have faith in God.
