Saturday Night

Okay folks. Here is the gruesome truth: It is 8:30 Saturdat night and I am sitting in bed reading and responding to DS posts. Oddly, I kind of like it. I like being at home with my dogs and in some way feeling connected to you all out there in far flung places. I don't feel lonely. I have good friends and families, step children, a sister, FIL and BIL and other as well as good neighbors but for now this is okay. Sometimes I look at sites on life after death experiences and I look at religious stuff. I also study languages, Sacred Harp singing and try to keep up on current events. Is my life too dull? I get out every day and will start a part time teaching job on Monday. I go to a lot of 12 step meetings. I was going to go to a hot air balloon show in another county tonight but I changed my mind because a) it looked like rain and b) I think I have a stress fracture in my left foot.
I am 61 and I guess I just wonder if others are doing livlier things on Saturday night. My husband and I were content to stay home a lot and watch something on Netflix. Am I too dull? What are you doing?

I'm comforted knowing that a lot of others do the same things that I do. I'm usually in bed by 9. Yesterday, I had dinner with a childhood friend and was home at 5:30. Watched TV, played on the internet, took my meds, let the dog out/in, and went to bed. I have to say I enjoy being home and I enjoy being boring. My Sundays are the same as my Saturdays usually. I try to get any chores done during the week so I don't have to do much on the weekends. I used to stitch all weekend, and I'm waiting for my itch to stitch to come back. It seems to have taken a leave of absence since Brian passed away which I'm sure is normal too. I'm thinking I might stitch more this winter.

I have to laugh...except for a few minor differences, you all sound like me! I had been up Friday night till about 1:45 reading and only had about 5 hours sleep...so sleep came pretty quickly saturday night..about 9:30. I did alot of stuff during the day and was very ready to crash by 8:00...
I did have to work on the children's sermon for our church picnic for today, but I'm not a "party animal" anymore...did enough of that about 35 years ago to last a lifetime!
Like some of you, I just don't mind being dull, boring or mundane.

I'm another dull one. I spend every night home alone. Watch a little TV or visit DS site. Usually in bed by 9:30p. Barbara

Last night I watched Sleepless in Seattle on VHS. It was blurry. I just felt like watching something familiar and not too taxing to my brain. Tom Hanks looked like Tom Hanks' little brother. Meg Ryan looked like Meg Ryan's little sister. It's like an 18 year old movie! I'm usually at my daughter's house on Saturday nights but we did something else during the afternoon yesterday. Next time maybe I'll watch a movie from this century and who knows, maybe I'll even throw caution to the wind and pop up some popcorn! It's a thrill a minute around here.... :))

Gosh, I spend weekends taking care of my 86 year old mom (bi-polar) and my 86 and 93 yr old in-laws. I get their groceries (2 separate households), put them away, make them something to eat, listen to their same stories for the um teenth time, buy my own groceries, collapse on the couch with a book and tv.
As Sharryanne said, "a thrill a minute." :)

You know, I'm glad to do it. At least it's "something to do."

Like most other nights I watch some TV even at the cabin. Go outside after it gets dark and talk to Donna for awhile. I then go back in the house and talk to the dogs. My little one and my Gordon Setter will actually talk back to me. Donnas poodle just wants to be petted. I usually go to bed about midnight.
