I made it about as far as you when I started to clean out the closet of his clothes. I thought that I wanted them to be there to feel closer to him but as time went on they served no purpose to me except as a constant reminder that he wasn't coming back. So when I did it, I did it quick. I didn't linger over every shirt and reminisce although I did save a few that had special memories. Everyone is different, pace your self and get the feel of what is best for you in how and when you proceed. My thoughts are with you on this journey with hopes for strength and courage to guide you.
Warm hugs...you can do this...

I donated his pants and shoes right away because they were stacked on a table in the bedroom due to lack of drawer space. It broke my heart to look at them knowing he was never going to wear them ever again. Yet it's been 21 months and I still kept all his shirts. He was known for his unusual shirts, and each one was hand picked by him and unique. Time still feels strange to me. Some moments I still think he is just away somewhere. I guess that is actually true. I feel his presence many times during the day and night. Blessings and comfort to you.
My husband passed away in January. We were married for almost 21 years.. like you , I have no family in the area but have lots of friends.
And happy to be back at work. One of these days, I will need to donate his belongings. knowing he will not be coming back.
I miss him every day. The emotional pain is getting better each day.
