I live rural, closest neighbor is 1/4 mi away..it's my son and his wife and her 2 kids (12-15) My daughter in law's mom wants to divorce her husband and my grandaughter said she should live with me. At first I said "no way" to myself. But have been thinking about it. I am so alone and maybe a voice here would be good. My husband Ray died 1-15 so new to this and just not sure. My home is a small ranch so no getting away from each other if she moved in. I have only met her a couple of times, seems nice but really bubbly. I don't know, my husband and I kept to ourselves, were together 24/7 so the house is empty..thoughts please.....

Great idea Martha! I'm all supportive of adopting a dog or two. If you aren't a dog person, perhaps a cat? Furry friends are awesome company and don't require much in return for the loyalty, love and companionship they give. I have three big dogs, one cat . . . all rescues. I also volunteer for our local "Friends of the Animals" to help raise money for animals in need. There are so many in need . . . and I find the one's that are rescues give above and beyond the average pet mill variety.

Thanks everyone for posting. As for pets, I have 2 dogs in the house right now, my 3rd a female is in the kennel because she is in season. I also have 2 Great Pryneese outside dogs to protect the goats, I raise goats have about 75 of them. Also 3 horses and 8 cows. My husband had heart issues and I read that grass fed beef is good for you much like fish or chicken. So raised a few head of grass fed steers. Thinking about a boarder, and don't think I will go there, I like alone time, really no close friends as it was always Ray and I together. We liked it that way. I'm such a new widow and am trying to adjust to my new life. I really hate it!

Being someone who has a soft heart as my sisters say- I have taken in family,extended family and almost a friend. It is hard.. Had my oldest daughter, her disabled husband , adult granddaughter living here when my husband passed. They moved out in July and next to youngest 35 yr old daughter and 4 grandsons 9,12,14,16 moved in-divorce issues, right after. The boys are in school,, some after school things BUT when daughter and boys go away almost every weekend . I LOVE IT !!!!! I love them BUT it is hard to live with family that you love, BUT to have a "stranger ?" ..give your self time and go it alone for a while and see where you are in 6 months.. I know they say don't make major decisions in the 1st year, wish I would of waited .

I agree with Sharon and Martha ... I would advise against bringing someone into your home.
Wait a year until you're thinking clearer, and then make important decisions.
Your grief is too new right now. I'm very sorry for your loss.

A stranger in your home? my gut says you will regret that. Could end up adding to the stress you already experience
