A special heart felt thank you to all the men and women that have lost their lives to keep us free. For those still protecting us, my thoughts are with you all for a safe return home to your families. My 95 year old Dad was married to my Mum for 7 days then went to W W 2 for a year, they had 65 wonderful years together. I wish that for all of you. I admire and I honour all of you. Thank you. I would like to offer my respect and admiration for all those who have met the call of duty, past and present. My heart goes out to all the military widows and widowers. My Dad tried to join every branch of the military during the start of WW2. He was blind in one eye and was rejected by all but the merchant marines. He joined and served on tankers around Africa and the pacific. They merchant marines never received vet status until the 1980's I believe. It was only at that time he was entitled to any benefits and received all his metals and commendations. He didn't even care he just felt the call to serve and it was dangerous work. I always admired him and was so grateful he lived through it. Thanks to all. Donna

My husband was in the Navy serving off the coast of Viet Nam. He was in top secret communications. He was proud to have enlisted and to have served our country. I honor him on this day as well as my father and Rudy's father who both served in WW2.
They all survived these wars. I lost many dear friends to Viet Nam. I remember them today and all who have served.

This has been a difficult week for me starting with Sunday when they did a salute to Veterans. My husband was a retired Marine. My granddaughter is an active duty Marine. My brother served in Vietnam and my dad's ship was torpedoed at the invasion of Leyte. Only my granddaughter is alive today. Yesterday was Veterans Day and the day before was the Marine Corps birthday. How could I not think of all these individuals so important to me as well as all the others who have risked their lives throughout the origins of our great nation.
