Thanks all for your kind words. Please respect the fact that I am Agnostic. I believe we have a spirit that moves on, but am not a believer of classic formal religious theology including the bible. Please respect my non-belief in formal religion, and I will respect your beliefs in formal religion. I am aware these comments may alienate me more so than I already am. Oh well, I'm already at the bottom of life and can't go lower.

Rick, if anyone gets heavy-handed with throwing religion at you, it can be reported as abuse. DS recognizes that faith helps some people deal with the loss and the other problems/afflictions found on other boards, HOWEVER, this is not the place to preach or proselytize. There are member run groups here that are faith-based/faith-oriented where belief can be used and discussed freely, but on the main boards it should be kept to a minimum.

I was with my husband Cliff for 30 years, I met and married a widower I met here, and we have happily been together for 7 years now. Lots of things are possible. Even happiness. Don't give up.

I am sorry for the loss that brings you here, but want you to know you are welcome here.

Hi Rick, Please don't feel that your comments about religion alienate you from others experiencing loss. Grief is grief. A person's beliefs don't change that. Jesus Himself did not try to force people to believe in Him, He only invited them. You have every right to decline that invitation. I will still respect you and your grief. I will still pray for your comfort and healing. It is the only way I know to support people. BTW, I read the poem Rainseattle posted. It was right on. So far as surviving the grief to find happiness with another person, I know of several people who have found love again. I did not look for love again, but I have found joy and contentment in my life. It takes a long time though.

I only know what's true from the word (Bible) and my own physical senses, though even those may be faulty.
Everyone has to put their faith in something. Not choosing a belief is a belief...When you go over a bridge and believe/ trust it will hold you til you get to the other side, and it does, you know that was real.
