I'm one of those thinkers, always working hard to research as much as possible before making decisions. I know I can't avoid mistakes, and thus regrets, but I do cut down on them significantly. Here's the problem with my method--I don't take enough chances. I'm so afraid of regrets that I overthink. Not good all the time.

I think at some point in all our lives whether it be the death of a spouse, friend, or family member. We all may have some regret. We are only human. But I also think in everyday life we have regrets of things we all wish we could have done differently in our lives. We are human, we make mistakes. But that is okay, because bottom line is no matter what we did or what we wish we should have done differently, we all do what is we feel is best at the time. It may help you to remember that you were loved by your spouse, and that is what you can focus on. Also, it may help you to journal a letter to help give you some sense of relief knowing you have wrote down your inner most feelings. Praying for peace for you.

thank you all. i feel a bit different already from when i posted that, my father told me to look at our relationship, the whole 15 years not the last 3 weeks. Every time i think about those last few weeks and could feel regret creeping in i just think of any number of good times we had over the whole period.

I too had alot of regret. To me, the regret is different when it is suicide because of the guilt associated with how the person died. Although we know it's not our fault, somehow we think the outcome would have been different if we only knew........ or if we only did this different they would still be here. The regret was overwhelming for me for many months. I may sound like a broken record but counseling helped me through it. I still regret, but the feeling is not so overpowering as it was two years ago
