I am more of a cat person than a dog person (no big surprise there!), but if you decide you don't want such a large time commitment that a dog requires - the walks, etc. - you might try to get a Maine Coon cat. They are about twice the size of a regular cat, and they don't think like other cats so much. They will come when you call and they are super-affectionate and protective. They also typically live about 15 years. The one I had in Florida was a big help for me and also for one of my sons when we were lonely and grieving. It was such a member of the family that it also grieved for Cliff when he passed. Just a thought....

As some of you know, I got 2 siamese kittens in June. They are almost 8 months old. now. They are blue point seal point mix. When I first got them, I fell in love with them quickly, but they were super active and I thought maybe I had made a mistake because of my health issues. The unconditional love that they show me everyday makes it all worth it. They have given me a reason to get up every day, and it is so wonderful to come home to them instead of an empty house. They are so warm and affectionate, and having 2 is great for them because they play together and they are not lonely when I need to go out. They are calming down now that they are a little older, and I am so glad that I finally convinced myself to take the plunge. They are definitely the sunshine in my life.

Well, I think all dogs will bark.But they are so much company. My mom has a toy poodle,and she has helped me so much with
my healing . If you love dogs,and have the time to potty train them,etc.I think it would be wonderful for both of you. I'm sure there
are a lot of dogs that would love to have a forever home.
