My husband of 37 years died suddenly 2 months ago. I'm having a really hard time coping. Most days I can hold it together at work only to dissolve into tears as soon as I get into the car to come home. When things seem the bleakest pennies appear. Has anyone else started finding pennies? At the funeral, a friend of mine asked if I'd found any pennies yet. Oddly enough, on my way downstairs to leave for the funeral, I had found a penny smack in the middle of the landing on stairs in my house. When I told her this she said it was a message from my husband and that when her daughter had died she began finding pennies. She was sure I'd be finding many more - which I have. Sometimes I find other coins - usually when something really big/or important happens that I wish he'd been there for. For example, getting back into my car at the bank after just paying off our mortgage I looked down and found a shiny dime. It should have been an exciting event, but without him there it was quite sad. That's when I found the dime and know that not only was he there, but that he knew how important it was. I'm sure I will miss him every day of my life but little things like pennies get me through the day. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

My husband of 16 years loved dragonflies and always said he wanted to come back as one in his next life. After his death some relatives and I were do yard work and one cousin remarked that there was this big dragonfly hanging around him and then his wife said yes she saw it many times that day as well. I had also seen one several times that day as well as days prior. Then a week or so later my sister was visiting and remarked about a large dragonfly hanging around outside my house. I see one most days, it may not be the same one but I do know that it has something to do with my husband watching out for me and letting me know things are okay.

Thanks. It sounds like you don't think I'm totally nuts. Finding the pennies/coins always makes me smile and feel better for a little while at least. I hope the dragonfly does the same for you.

Yes, I also find "pennies from heaven" as I call them--and also a very tiny hummingbird that seemed to delight in getting my attention. My husband loved hummingbirds and would sit and watch them. After I put the feeder up this year one tiny little bird would fly to the feeder and perch on top of it and stare in the window---and then fly to the window and hover, staring at us as we stared at him--I had never seen one do that before---my daughter said her daddy was sending us a message that he is watching over us. I like that explanation. I'm glad you are finding comfort in the pennies, every comfort helps. Hugs to you

Finding a coin of any denomination represents opportunity; either one that will come or one that needs careful thought.

Shortly after Jim was buried and they had just put up the headstone.I put some fresh flowers on his grave and then left to put the stems in the trash and I came back to find two pennies on his grave one heads up and one heads down and the one heads up was a 1973 penny. That was the year we were married. No I don't think you are crazy...it happened to me too!

My husband was 61, but died just 3the weeks after his birthday. Also ex military. But he died because of a ruptured abdominal aneurysm. Sudden and quick. I don't think I could have endured watching him suffer. I'm the one suffering now. We were together so long I'm having trouble remembering where I stopped & he started. But I know he's close. I find so many pennies. And you're right. They usually come in 2's or even more. One day I found a total of 14 over the course of the day.

This has been written about many times on this site. I have noticed pennies often and that is what I think of when I see them now. Is it because I'm aware of it - or am I really finding more pennies - who knows.

I know I've had other signs though - but apparently many believe they have had signs with pennies. Too bad it's not silver dollars - that's what I really need.

When my kids are in hockey class, I walk off the anxiety of loss and think/feel my way through the grief terrain. It's a time I dedicate exclusively to that purpose.

Walk, think, cry, resolve, walk, think, cry, resolve. Twice a week.

In the first six weeks after my husband died I found at least one coin on every walk. On the rockiest days, I always found more.

I kept them separate from other coins and put them into a keepsake box. I couldn't put a price on those pennies.

My son Ken would collect white rocks, when he wanted to remember something, and he would leave them places where people would find them, and know he had come by. Death did not stop this habit. I have found some in some amazing places (you can read my journal ) Also there is a site here called Hello From Heaven, about others and their unique experiences. And Yes - to the pennies! G-

I have always told my husband I wanted him to throw me quarters not pennies. I have found a few since he passed away almost 1 year ago. I went outside one Sunday to get the paper and a quarter was right beside it on the ground. It was a 1973 which is the year we met and married!! Also, our grandson and I were visiting my aunt in a nursing home and I saw a dime by her bed. I told my grandson it must be for him from Pappy because I requested quarters!! It was his birth year.. So yes, I believe Dave is always with me and gives me little hints now and then.

yes i do believe that our loved ones let us know that they are ok and with us whetger it be pennies,dimes,quarters,dragonflys or hummingbiids it is some sort of special sign.i think my Larry probaly would not use coins as a way to let me know he is ok and with me being i am disorganized when it comes handling cash you shoud see my pocketbook it used to drive him crazy, But i do notice seeing and hearing the name "Larry" more often than usual such as when you go into a store and they list the names of the store mangers etc, i also notice alot of sailboats,( we had a sailboat in the USVI and it was our retirement dream to sail the islands) so thats my sign i went to the store to purchase a picture frame and as display photo there was a picture of a sailboat ive never noticed that before ususally its people and even stranger it looked exactly like ours, so no matter what the sign is they love us and are letting us know they are fine. peace and comfort to all

oh oh, I havent found a single penny or coin since my wife died two months ago. She was very careful with money, so I dont think she'd be throwing money around. I have been finding coupons though. Does that count?
