Well I never thought that there would be people out there let alone on this website. Without going into names, I need to tell my story.

I lost my husband October 18, 2016 and it was the hardest day of my life, being together for 33 years, I never thought I would be on a website like this, but here I was typing my heart out, and letting people know what I was going through. Well months had passed and then I get a nice note from someone, and we struck up a conversation, weeks later we were exchanging personal emails. Yes I guess you could say I thought not in a million years, I would let down my guard. Well I did and all the things that were exchanged. The I love yours, you are so beautiful Then something out of the blue happened and I fell for it now I am paying for it. Literally.

So all the ladies out there beware of a man asking for your personal email or go on Skype. He will say he works overseas, ask for gmail, Skype or yahoo emails. I did not have an Facebook page but he did but now it is gone. He will say things to make you feel good and put your guard down. It happened to me, and I fell for his charm, and when he said he fell in love with me in a hurry I fell for that too. He told me I was beautiful and now that I think of it he never once asked anything personal. Then he did something that I will never recover. I will not mention names, but if you want to message me I will talk in further details.

I know not everyone on this site is like that, but to let you know that one door closes and another opens, and it has happened to me, you may have lied to me and made me feel special and then dropped me, but know this what you took from me can be replaced eventually. I may have been fooled, but I don't want others to be.

i am here to heal and not be used. I won't be used again, and now I am more careful more than ever. I have come back stronger than ever.

I am so sorry that has happened to you. Do I know him? I just signed up on this website. Glad you are doing what you are doing and I am sure he will be gone before we know it. Why does people have to prey on peoples feelings. But do know this, you are brave to come forward, and just know this, he will have to answer to our Heavenly Father in the end. God bless you for being strong as I don't think I could do what you did. By the looks everyone here feels the same way. God bless you. Hugs

So sorry this happened to you. This happened to me years in 2008 on Myspace, even when I felt in my gut he was a creep I still got sucked in. Lessoned learned and never happening again!

As for this site I tell people if a person posts anything pertaining to email, address, phone number, website, etc. report them as spam because all of that is against the rules.

This same thing happened to my friend and it hurts, but the best thing now you know they are out there and you know how to respond to them. This will only make you one strong woman.

I have a friend who was divorced for many years. She's obviously lonely. She got scammed into sending money to a person she found through dating site. This man send her photos looking handsome. The photo was very much like a model's photo portfolio taken at an Inca site in South America. He told her he was doing business in Africa. It was too good to be true. Our friend and I talked her out of continuing communication with that man. We have to be aware not to be trapped.

Someone sent me an email and I responded one time, and then he sent a second one which I didn't respond to. Shortly after he sent a third one. Now after some time he has sent another one:

"Hope my SMS tone wakes you up for the day…… Good morning to the sleeping beauty!!!!!"

I am ignoring him but I think I should send him something to think about. Any suggestions??

Back when my wife died I used facebook and I was on a widow page or group and there were constantly scammers on there trying to get money. I say don't even give personal info out, you never know who you are dealing with.

Talk about vulnerability and widow's fog. As well as impaired judgment: Leaving the funeral home 5 months ago I entered a nearby parking lot viewing photos I just took. Later a needy hoodlum came over to my car to whom I offered a ride to wherever. It was dark- 10:30 at night. I rode him past my husband's body in the home and I could have been joining it there for in a minute he said do what I say and I won't shoot you. We went to the atm. Everything turned out Ok, but just an example!

I left you a message also. I just joined this group tonight. My husband died two weeks tomorrow and I am utterly and completely miserable. I just can't seem to stop crying. I am on Facebook but primarily used it to post updates on my husband's condition. Tonight, a friend of a friend who apparently made 54 new friends on Facebook just today send me a friend request. I clicked on his profile and he claims to be from the Netherlands and claims to be a widower. Against my better judgment, I accepted his friend request and then he immediately pm'd me. He was very polite. He kept calling me dear,etc. long story short, he said he wasn't on Facebook much and asked for my Gmail email so that we could chat on hangouts . I told him I think I had made a mistake, ended the conversation , and unfriended him. Then, I joined this group and read your post. It just goes to show how very vulnerable we are at this time . I'm a very smart woman and would never ordinarily friend anyone on Facebook that I don't know. I'm so very sorry that something bad happened to you. Thank you for sharing this with the rest of us.

certainly raised my alarm bells, and I have a feeling there's another creeper on here already. The day after I joined this site I got a friend request from a man with a private profile , no posts, and doesn't even belong to this group. I checked again this morning, and his profile is now public and he has a bunch of friends. I know many people on here have private profiles for one reason or another, and I totally respect that. I'm still very new here and hope that I'm just overly suspicious. I guess time will tell.
