Since my husband died, the following has become my favorite quote of all time. I have shared it with two friends, but, before I leave on vacation I felt I should post it as it may help someone on DS.

Hi Darlene,

Just wanted to say that is so beautiful and true. Just to share some thing to this quote. My one brother got killed on his 50th birthday in 1987, then 10 months later another brother passed away who was
42. At his viewing I did not want to cry. And the pastor said to me,
"why Miriam, that is why God gave us tear ducks". recent widow

Thanks for sharing this. It is very true and touches upon the reality of mortality. We grieve because of the depth of our love and nothing can ever totally repair the rent in the fabric of our life. It does eventually mend, but not without leaving a scar. But I wear my scar's with honor. They prove that a life lived does not happen in a vacuum. There is always some evident damage in the process.

Thank You for sharing - all of it so true - the tears are rain from heaven telling us they see and hear us...they are healing as well....

Hi Darlene, and I so agree with that! Tears are STRENGTH not weekness. Tears are honest, and cathartic. they release the pain we are feeling. and I believe that because I still do it everyday!!! Not like before, but the tears are my way to tell him how much he is loved, and how very much he is missed, along with how much love he GAVE to us!
