Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
Jeff
Many years ago, before I was even married, I had a foreboding of sorts. There was a couple in their latter 60s across the road. He died suddenly. This widowed lady was converged upon by all kinds of friends/family for about a week (she had a tiny mobile home and it was full to capacity)... then it was down to one straggler, then that person left too. This lady was all alone. I hardly ever saw anyone else go over there. I moved on, and I heard she passed a few years later.
I remember the situation really struck me at the time - first just her and him, then the onslaught of people for a few days, then she got the "call if you need anything." I felt so far removed from anything like that ever happening to me. Well, here I am.
Keep the faith my friend, and sorry for your loss. Take good care of yourself.
I'm glad you've found us. This is a place where nobody wants to be, and yet we "get it". We understand and we will listen to you vent and cry and complain and hopefully lend a bit of support.
I could not have made it through those early dark days if it hadn't been for this group. Hang in there - you're not alone.
Sending warm hugs
You will not feel so alone, come and read or post as often as you need. We are all from all walks of life, from different countries and backgrounds but we still can help one another and it makes a difference. One thing I have learn is to be kind to yourself and to take time to grieve (I have not always followed my own advice and I fell apart, I am better now and treat myself with care).
Take care. You are not alone. Big hug to you.
Cancer widow, I had 9 months of hard earned time to spend my last's with my husband.
We had 3 yrs left from the time the word cancer was announced. I didn't think about me or him leaving me. Instead total focus was on the battle to get rid of it. Needless to say we lost.
Time is a friend and enemy. Each day seemed to last forever. Each day was so hard. However over a year, the pain has eased up. I find comfort in knowing that my husband is not in pain.
I didn't find this site until a couple of months ago. My pain might of lessen faster had I found this site a year ago. It's so nice to talk to people who are, or have been through it all.
Hug to you.
