Off topic but encouragement to visit

As the 4th of July finishs this year I was watching CBS news and one man who plays taps at Arlington Natl Cemetery.

It reminded me of something I am glad I got my husband to do.
When my daughter and her than husband were stationed at the Pentagon I was going to visit them at the air force base there.
Her husband had just left the Pentagon when the plane hit it....

My husband really was not interested in going...because I had visited there in 1990 when the older Bush first sent us to Iraq I got to tour many places than. So I pushed him to go because I knew he would not be sorry he went - and he was not.

We visited Arlington Natil Cemetery - and heard taps being played.
We visited it all day long - from civil war to WWI, and WWII, the Vietnam memorial wall, Korean Memorial (all both so awesome) and correspondence portion, Kennedy and many more. We visited the Capitol, while the WHite House was closed at that time since wars started we so much of history...Smithsonian....on and on...

SO I felt although this is not Veterans Day this is Independence Day and we owe our independence to many of our fallen heroes...I encourage every citizen to visit WA DC - its awesome - and go during the Cherry Blossoms...Its overwhelming to be there...IN my opinion a must due trip...yet how many citizens in USA think of that???

Just sharing some memories - my husband was so very glad he decided to go....made a lasting impression on him, matter of fact, I got him to travel to many places he would have never gone if it was not for me.....this makes me happy I did those trips for him -

So this day although quiet for me was a memory lane day....

I haven't been to Washington DC or NYC or lots of places-------I would love to see----and hope to

Oh yes I was there during Cherry blossom time. I was 16 and we got to tour the white house or should i say a few rooms. Went to Arlington and saw Kennedy''s grave with the flame. Saw all the memorials and congress. It was a great trip and even though I am now 59 I remember it well. Good memory Nicker. Hugs, Chris

I agree, Nicker! There is no place like D.C. I went as a teenager and it made SUCH an impression on me. I would love to go again, as there is so much new there since I was there. It definitely is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and TWICE in a lifetime would be AWESOME!

I am lucky, I get to go there at least once a year either for work or with the National Psoriasis Foundation to lobby for a bill. It is so exciting. Lobbying for a bill is really a fascinating experience getting to see inside congress and the senate offices and learning how the entire process works. I agree, get there if you can. It is hard to pinpoint Cherry Blossom time. This year it was way earlier than normal. All the times I have gone I have only managed to see them once. But OMG they are spectacular.

I have never been...well that is not exactly true. My dad worked as an electronics engineer for the governemnt and was sent there to work when my mom was pregnant with me. We lived in Texas. My dad went first, my mom and my two sisters arrive shortly thereafter. It was during cherry blossom time. I was born in May and they came back to Texas when I was three months old. So I am a Texas girl at heart, but have always wanted to go back see my birthplace. Maybe someday, Lord willing!

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
