Hello everyone. I hope your day improves for those feeling bad and sad and I hope those of you feeling better continue on that path.
Tomorrow is the dreaded 16th of the month. It will be 10 months Don has been gone. Yesterday wasn't too good. I saw his picture and then it all began. I remember some good days and then i remembered his incredible suffering and the ups and downs of marriage and all of it at the same time.
I wanted to just go to sleep, but - not possible. Still had animals to care for outside.
Well i am getting ready to head outside here in a bit and get started. Put the horses out in their acre lots for some grass and running around. They are getting used to that now. I will work one of them in the round pen, making him walk, trot and lope. Make him stand still as i walk around him (this is called ground tied) and then use an emply feed sack as a huge fan to rub his body and tap his body so he isn't so jumpy at touch. Then i shake it above his head and to his left and right and make him stand still. I bring it to his nose to he can inspect it.
Then i put it on the ground and make him walk on it as it makes the crackling sounds. I always avoids it so I MAKE HIM do it and i will also back him up on it when he gives me a hard time stepping on it going forward.
All my husband's training techniques with young colts. But this horse isin't not young, just acting like a scaredy cat.
He is tall and long and big, probably 1000 pounds at least.
Anyway, I will wait until he does everything i ask of him. THen i will turn him out for grass. If he fights me we continue until he gives in to me.
Remember I AM THE HEAD MARE, bubba! His name is NOT bubba by the way!
I'll be in touch and let you all know how the day went and what cleaning i have done today. More project to do. Oh boy, what fun.
