This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
Yes it's hard to imagine how to go on living without her, but,.. I am finding
a little hope with the help of my friends here on DS. I can't relate or talk to anybody that hasn't experienced loosing a spouse. (not parent, not sibling, not dog, not goldfish, but the one true love ). Please find a good grief councilor, one that has lost a love one if possible. It will help you a lot. Also, let your children share in your grief if they are strong enough to do so. My adult children are not strong enough to deal with my grieving and sometimes I need them to be. Take care, You are in my prayers.
Your children need you and you need them. I think my sons were and still are my greatest comfort. It is going to take time to be able to start to function. Give yourself that time and be kind to yourself.
Prayers for you for comfort and let the memories of your wonderful, life together keep you these early days.
Well I lost my wife on the 13th June 2018 almost 20 yrs marriage, and I understand where you are coming from, but my wife had terminal cancer and battled for 5 years. I lost a little bit each day, but the pain is still there and I have two should to care for as well as myself. You have to hold on to it and don't stay in the darkness, and think that your life is over, they wouldn't want you to think and be like that. talk to people go to the hospital do some volunteering. You need to get out of the darkness of this before that's where you will stay and it is not a good place.

I lost my dearest husband barely 7months ago.
Pain scale is the same! I'm beginning to hate myself for feeling this way.
Just stay functional..stay hydrated..manage to eat and sleep.
So easily said than done..but I myself is battling the same!
Hugs ..
Places that we went, things we have done, food that we had, songs on the radio, brought back bittersweet memories.
I don’t know how am I to cope without him for the rest of my life. The uncertainty is making me panicky.
Lots of raw emotion here. I, too, lost my one true love of 30 years. June 14, 2018. Cancer. What you are feeling is very familiar. The feelings of hopelesness and absolute despair. Your heart is shattered into a thousand pieces and you will never be whole again.
I often wish God would take me as well. I feel as though my life purpose is gone. We were soulmates. I have no desire to live on in this world. Although i have a son, I tell myself he will be fine without me. Ive had to travel for work a couple of times recently and prayed for a plane crash. Although i dont wish others to die. Your mind and your heart play lots of terrible tricks.
I just started seeing a grief counselor today. I make myself take walks. The first few weeks are so hard, unbearable in fact. There is nothing you can do but push on. Keep telling yourself it will get better. Remember, your beloved doesnt want you to suffer. She wants you to eventually find a new happy place. Just keep moving. Maybe find a counselor and or a bereavement group. Be gentle with yourself and take care of yourself. Some day, we will all get to a place where it doesnt hurt so much.
