It got my attention because I had 3 funerals last year: my mom in March, my wife in July, and my best friend in September (who had no family so I acted as next-of-kin). I became very competent at funerals, but they didn't get any "easier."

Then to cap off the 12 months of loss, my old dog died in February.

I felt your prayers as I struggled to get out of this dark place. I am doing much better. My daughters have been with me and I have come to a decision to sell my house and go into a senior complex where I will be with other people. Being alone in this big house had taken its toll and I felt as though my mind was playing tricks on me and it intensified when I attended a funeral of a friend who along with her husband had attended my husband's funeral. My daughter told me afterward, no more funerals, that I was not obligated to go to every funeral. So, my daughters identified approximately sixteen independent senior homes, made appointments and we are touring our second one tomorrow. Some have waiting lists and we are also exploring the possibility of a one bedroom condo. I thought after 21 months I was doing great, but that funeral took me all the way back. My daughter was worrying I might be losing my memory. I would lose my keys, then they would suddenly appear. It took me to a very strange place. I have started water aerobics again and have been to some of the senior centers and I am not forgetting like I did. I bought some pants with pockets so I would only have two keys, car keys and house keys, because every time I put it in my purse, I wouldn't find them. Thank you so much for your prayers and for being concerned about me. I am so glad you are with me so I don't have to face this alone. I love you all so very much.

I am so glad to see this post from you. My cousin just recently moved from a big house to a smaller apartment in a senior living complex ... and what a great move that was for her. She has discovered that two of her high school friends live in the same complex. It was the best decision ever! I hope that you will find a nice place, too. So glad to see you back here on DS.
