I offer you my heartfelt sympathy for the way you lost your husband, so far away. I can't imagine how hard that must be. Also, I am so sorry you are having difficulties with step sons and the will. I also had to deal with step children who were estranged from their father. It is so hard. However, each day you can just get up and take care of yourself will begin your healing. Do something nice for yourself everyday. You have been in such physical and emotional pain, you need some comfort big time. Surround yourself with only the people who love you the most and understand what you are going through. Don't let people push you into things you do not want to do at this time. You have to take your own time and take one step at a time. God bless you and heal you according to his will.

I would like to express my sympathies for your loss.
We are all in this very painful spot in our lives, and I would like to share how helpful this forum has been for me.

I feel there are so many helpful, caring friends on this site. We all care for each other, and I have felt so blessed and honored to pray for my friends on DS.

I pray the family situation with the stepsons will be resolved favorably. They are in pain also. When we are grieving everything is magnified. The hurting is huge!!

It's a very hard road, and my deepest sympathies to you. Everything is overwhelming - I lost my husband suddenly, and I think that adds an extra element - although we all certainly understand the pain that you are going through. I don't often give advice, but in my opinion, don't rush to resolve everything. I agree with NewRoads - do something nice for yourself everyday. Many things can wait to be resolved when you feel emotionally and physically stronger. It's hard to believe, but you will. Sometimes I felt that in the beginning, things were flying past me, and I had to either duck or fight back immediately. It would have been better in the beginning to not try to ''fix'' everything, because you are raw and it's overwhelming. This site was a blessing to me, and I'm sure it will be a blessing for you. I'm sorry for your loss. I hear that alot, as you do, but it doesn't pay the bills or make you feel the loss less. I am told that things get better, and find myself praying a quick help me whoever you are to get thru the day, or the visit, or the moment..to get to the point where it feels just a little better...it may help you, ande remember to breathe...Feel the cyberhugs here and know that you are not alone. Take care of yourself first....and take it one breath at a time...

Sorry you're having to go through this. I also lost my husband to a massive heart attack in 2009. My in-laws challenged the life insurance policy stating that my husband of 20 years meant for them to have it. In addition to grieving, trying to continue my job, helping my sons through their sorrow, then I had to hire an attorney. Of course, they had a lawyer willing to work on contingency (a percentage of policy) whereas I had to pay thousands out of my savings. When they lost, then they started asking for all kinds of items that they envied when my husband was alive. It's bad enough you have to deal with life without your spouse and shock of the sudden death, then you have to fight off the blood-suckers looking for money. Although it's all over now, I still feel resentment and have no desire to communicate with them and I'm sure the feeling is mutual, until they want to borrow $$. I agree with the others, take care of yourself. Don't worry about those things or those people you can't control. Stick with this forum. There's alot of wisdom here.

Check your State statutes, Here in Mich. Widows & widowers are protected against being left out. The statutes are the law period. As his surviving spouse I see no way that his children can have the will contested.

What I discovered is when we notarized the will, in WA state it had to have two witness signatures so they get 1/2 of premarriage to me, I have 9 1/2 pages of stuff they agreed to but won't sign a TEDRA agreement saying they will now leave me alone, & basically want to be co executors of the estate (which is just the house & vehicles no $$) WA says after our marriage what we accumulated is mine (the house, vehicles etc) but they still won't budge. My attorney is trying to be nice give them a bunch in hopes they go away. Been 2 months now, I want this over.

Let me add my condolences -- what a shock to lose the person you love so suddenly and unexpectedly, then not have support of family. I am so sorry. I've just been at this site a few days and I find it an amazingly wise and comforting place to drop in. It really is a community of caring people. We'll all be with you.
