This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
I am a 58 year old woman who was clinically diagnosed with depression years ago. In 2015 I lost my husband of 33 years. He was diagnosed with cancer on June 13th, and passed away on July 19th. I've had a very hard time struggling with this and feel traumatized due to the short time in which I had him between diagnosis and death. I felt I never had the opportunity to accept what was happening, never had the opportunity to make any ammends between us that may have needed. Once diagnosed, it was all doctor appointments and hospital stays. I spent 35 years with this man, married for 33, and suddenly he was gone. I hurt bad to this day. and it is over a year later and its still hard to believe he is no longer in my life. I am having such a hard time moving on with my life. I lost a great job in 2008 due to the company shutting down, I was independent then, but after the loss of my job, I was totally dependent on my husband. Losing my job, then later my husband has not only hurt me financially, but my self worth. My partner in life is gone, and he was more then just someone to help me with my bills, he was my partner in everything in my life. I would give up all material things if I could just have him back, but I know that is not possible.

I did have to go on antidepressants to help me as I would not have made it through and then I felt guilty because I should be feeling sad. But I need to keep moving so I will stay on them a bit longer. Please reach out for help, sometimes we need little crutch, and that's all it is, a crutch. You will walk without again someday. Sending big hugs.
