While I know that this is not a discussion group on theology or religion, my journey of grief has led me to a profound awakening to the spiritual aspect of my life. I have learned that many of my friends here at DS have had a relationship with God and have been strengthened by Him during this painful time in Their lives. My bride Barbara, was not only my wife, she was my best friend. This morning, I came upon a video of a song on You Tube that I am linking to. If a focus on God and the spiritual aspects of your own grief offends you in any way, I apologize and suggest you not follow the link. Joe,

Thank you for sharing that song and its important message. Another artist from whom I find great comfort in the words of his music is Matthew West (especially his album 'History'). The words on this album brought me through some really rough times and helped put things in perspective.

Our faith played a huge role in our married lives, but I could have never imagined how desperately I would need to seek God's strength in my state of utter loss and confusion. He was there to comfort and guide. Blessings to you. TJ

Thank you for sharing. I am familiar with Amy Grant. As for religion, I make no excuses for that fact that I am a Catholic girl. My faith sustains me and enables me to get from one day to the next. I am proud to call Jeses my best friend. peace, Kaaren

Thanks so much for this beautiful video & song. Uplifting in every way.
Made me remember the good friends I have lost in recent years; five in one year. That was really a tough time. Faith brought me through that, and much more.

Oh my gosh, I have not heard that song in years. What a wonderful trip down memory lane.

Knowing that God used the circumstances of my husbands death, heck and our marriage, to draw me closer in ways I never knew existed has been profound! My husbands journey ended here on earth but not mine. Today, I walk in my journey with a different hope and new sense of gratitude. Peace to you Joe.

I had heard that song before, but like so many others it has a whole new meaning now. Thank you for sharing. Dan was also my best friend - my newly wed son actually complained once that his dad and I were too attached to each other! I miss him terribly.....

Joe, thank you for sharing your find! As you, when my husband -- my friend, my partner, my everything -- died, I finally understood the meaning of the word "finality." Since then I am so humbled by life and death, and God. If it were not because I do believe that God, in His infinite wisdom, will never abandon us at our time of need -- even in dying -- my husband died on Easter Sunday -- I do not know how I would have been able to still be here five months later. I would make no apologies for anyone being offended, in grief and in anything else we ever go through in life, we all for a myriad of reasons worship and believe in different ways. As individuals and as has been said over and over again by persons much more learned than I, it is very important that we learn to agree to disagree and respect each other. I for one am touched by your sincere post and the sharing of the song. Just a couple of weeks ago I shared a beautiful video sent to me by someone. After watchin the video all I could say was, I cried at the beginning and at the end wondered why I did cry. If I find the video link I will post it again -- it will remind us that God is our Creator and of everything on this earth. Peace to you and many blessings.

Thank you all for your comments on this one. I first heard the song at the memorial service we had for my Mom & Dad, who lost their lives in an airplane crash August 9, 1985. I had not heard it since, and as luck, or should I say God, would have it, I came accross it this morning. Once again, it brought about a flood of emotion for me, and apparantly it has met it's target with many of you as well. It really is a beautiful rendition, and it is so very true that indeed "a lifetime's not too long to live as friends.....".......Be well, everyone....Joe..:-)
