Smell: lilacs, coffee, BUTTER, fresh cut grass, fresh air after rain
Taste: mushroom pan-fried with BUTTER, mango, anything pan-fried with garlic, hot chocolate, black pepper
Smells: the earth/duff in the redwood forests especially after a rain, mix of spring flowers wafting past on a breeze during my morning walks, clothes dried on the line, freshly mowed grass, baking bread.
Sounds: Rain on a tin roof, birds singing, winds blowing, an exquisite solo from a violin or a flute, or any instrument really, the sound of nature one would hear up on a mountain somewhere.

Climbing the huge pine tree just north of our house in the country, far above where my little brothers could reach. The smell of the pine, the quiet and the book I was reading. Heaven
Harvesting our garden in the crisp fall afternoons the last day before frost.
Making snow forts with my little brothers and coming inside for hot cocoa.
Shopping with my mother for new school clothes each fall and then getting all the wonderful school supplies. I am still obsessed with really good pens and paper.
Going to our favorite swimming spot at the river on a hot afternoon after a day spent working in our huge garden. Oh the bliss!
Do you get the idea I am a country girl? Please tell me your favorite childhood memories. I get a lot of second hand joy from your lists. {{{ Hugs }}} ~ Bailey ~
Riding to check cows at calving time with dad.
Showing mom how to hitch team to wagon. I now know she knew the procedure but let me have my day in the sun.
Hockey anytime anywhere.
Playing with younger brother and sister my first buddies.
Sled riding after dark, the street lights made the snow look like diamonds.
Ice skating at the recreation center. The snowflakes would swirl around me.
Playing in the woods behind our house. They're long gone but I can still see them in my mind.
Swimming with my brothers and sisters in the pool my parents put up for us every summer. The sun was warm, the laughter plentiful.
2. The voices of my children and grandchildren.
3. The wind in the trees.
4. The roar of a Harley.
5. A trickling stream.
