Like so many of you, I have had a really hard time sleeping. I can only sleep after I am totally exhausted. This mean I seldom even try to go to sleep before 3:00 am. And when i do go to bed my mind races. I feel like my head is a popcorn popper and my thoughts are exploding all over the place. I pray and I have started to make lists in my mind. I list my 5 favorites of a specific genre. This process seems to help me relax and focus on the beauty of life. I started with the 5 senses. I'll share with you, will you share with me?
To start, my 5 favorite things to hear:
1. A baby's laughter
2. Early morning bird songs
3. Waves breaking on the shore
4. The ping of canning jars when they seal
5. The gentle clip cop of a hurry and buggy on pavement

My go-to remedy for sleeping is...audio books! I love cozy mysteries (no gory stuff) and other interesting stories. I used earbuds when my husband was alive so as to not disturb him. I now have a great Bose Bluetooth speaker that's more comfortable.
I also listen to audio books while walking in the neighborhood and doing housework using earbuds. I've enjoyed audio books for years and they are sorta my best friend! (But I'm fortunate to have real best friends too!).

Bonus, but WARNING: Unpopular Choice!
Skunk! (Only at a distance, as when you drive through an area where a skunk has been). It makes me laugh because we have no choice but to breathe it in -- what an ingenious natural defense mechanism!

Watching a sailing ship traveling in the distance. Gazing at the stars on a clear night. Hearing a grandchild call my name top my list of sights.
